I propose a ninth category to the Ship Information tabs that are similar to a bio, except for ships, that can display its history.

It could perhaps be typed in by the pilot, adding additional player controlled content to the game and/or even a PvP history for a ship that has particularly distinguished itself from other ships. It could also have a record of previous names it has taken on and attacks it has survived from other pilots.

Most of the time i don't really interested what is the current individual history eg. DOB, bio, Cor/Alli history, killboard, medals etc. Why shoud i bother about ships histories?

FYI it was already suggested several times.

People would repackage them just to erase any form of intel available to others.

Just so we are clear; you are aware that any history accumulated while the ship is assembled will cease to exist if someone decides to repackage it... right?

It's a database thing.

-1 for waste of Dev time on un-needed, pretty-much-useless feature.

Ammo use history? Are you hoping you can show info on enemy ships in space, so you can see what ammo type/damage type they usually deal? Wow, as if Local wasn't enough free intel... you want your enemy ships to just tell you how they're fit?

Waste of Dev time AND server resources AND an unbalanced, bad idea.

The ship would lose it's history upon repackaging indeed. I'm still loosely in support of this suggestion though. I think a lot of us have a few ships with a story behind them.

I've got this Ashimmu right now I use in small gangs that has racked up about 300 kills and is still alive. I'd estimate she's been in 60-70 separate engagements in that time. She's my favorite.

Then there's my station game Scorpion that has far less kills but has been kicking it on the undocks for almost a year and a half. Many a pilot have flung vitriol her way and she takes it like a champ each time.

They are my pride and joy and I'd love a record of their escapades. Killboards don't tell the whole story. I'd like to see a history available in a "ship history" category with some basic information about the engagements. Along with it the ability to add comments myself to each kill.
"The time I bait tanked 5 Vexors". "The time I was called a dirty ****". "The time I whored on a Moros and instawarped right after".

You could choose if it's available to corporation, alliance, public or private.

nah more like how much ammo etc the ship has fired, not really a relevant stat but still something fun to look at, total damage taken, damage dealt adds more sentimental value to the ship, lol what exactly is there to balance having a ship history?

alot of things can be classed as a waste of dev time but thats there job "development"
