PI Question - returning to it after 'changes'

HI,

come back to PI having neglected it (yeah I know the crucible changes etc) but;

when PI was introduced I built a factory planet for the NPC goods I bout to convert to P3 and set up a few planets to build 2 P3 items from scratch - not the most efficient - so eg one planet produced extracted P0 converted to P1 then had a P2 and P3 factory and dumped the second P2 item to get my P.

Now I know this is really inefficient but I did it for relative ease of use and minimising hauling etc. However, I have now relocated to a system 20+ jumps away from my planets so am setting up again.

The corp I am in now have set up POCOs in a low sec system so I'll have 0% tax - well until some huge alliance decide the space is theirs Roll

I'm not bothered about the hauling anymore so was wondering if I am better off simply producing, say, P3 items and buying the P2 on the market not asking for what items but from the little research I've done it could be much more efficient - or building the P2 items on say 2/3 planets and having another planet for P3.

Not overly fussed on doing the P4 stuff as I think I'll just get a headache but any pointers would be much appreciated.

If you have 0% taxes you can haul all you want.

The only problem is the storage available on the planet.

Itll obviously be more efficient in the long run to still want to minimize import/export, cus if(probably when) some alliance decides they want to setup their POCOs, your profits will reduce more on that count. As for your situation on the combination of extraction and production, I havent crunched the numbers to answer, mainly cus i CBA. Just know this: Extraction is highly less profitable than production in highsec but gets more and more profitable the less security you operate in. And again, as for when extraction is more profitable than production, havent crunched the numbers, but thats the way youre headed.

The best way to start being profitable in any type of system(or market) is first to know the system in and out. Know what youre working with. Then (if thats how you work best) draw it up on a whiteboard and have a creative brainstorm on where you can manipulate the system and numbers associated. 1) Know the system, 2) Make a theory for profit, 3) test it, 4) question its longerm liability(or flexibility to cut losses and start over), 5) Try again or success!
