Why I should quit EVE.

As for smoking... hmmm...

Had been a serious smoker only for about 12 years (started late), but I gave up "smoking" about 2 months ago.
Haven't given up on nicotine though, and don't really plan to. Switched to inhaling nicotine-filled vapors.

I have had a month-long break from all nicotine-related things before (while recovering from surgery, coughing would have hurt like hell), but the lack of nicotine made my appetite skyrocket (to the point of quite literally being unable to think straight if I was not noshing on something almost continuously), and since I'm not exactly in good shape (fat-wise) to begin with, that was a deal breaker. Nicotine had to come back, one way or another. Restarted smoking cigarettes, but the aftertaste and smell was hard to get reused to, and coughing became a fairly regular occurrence again.

I did not wake up coughing in any of the mornings since I switched to vaporized propylene glycol with nicotine traces in it.

Everyone is trying to quit smoking. I went a week and a half. The only Nicotine Inhalers in Canada are Nicoret, E-Cigarettes are illegal too.

The Cough gets worse everyday.

Say WHAT ? Since when ? Are you sure you're not getting some things mixed up ?

The only thing even remotely similar I found was an ADVISORY warning from the spring of 2009 warning consumers about e-cigarettes not having been tested properly for use, and no products being yet approved for sale back then.

USE of e-cigarettes was never illegal as far as I know. You can use them as much as you like.
SALES of unauthorized products, yes, those might be illegal, but that's the seller's problem.
There are plenty of sites you can find via Google that sell e-cigarettes that deliver to Canada too.

Digging around a bit more... relevant bits collected and slightly cleaned up...

Basically sale and importation are "restricted" and technically these restrictions are in fact legally incorrect and not enforceable because Health Canada's own guidelines make a specific exemption for inhalers that provide under .4mg of nicotine per inhalation. If such restrictions are challenged in court the restriction would likely fall. Most retailers only get a letter "recommending" they cease sale of juice containing nicotine. Currently I am aware of one class action suit in it's early stages to challenge Health Canada.

There is no law against owning or using batteries, vaporizering atomizers or any parts associated with. There is no law against owning or using plastic parts associated with cartridges and cartomizers, USB chargers or other battery charging devices.
There is also no law, nor restriction against owning or using food flavoring, PG, VG, or nicotine in low doses (such as that found in eliquids, cigarettes, patches, nicorettes and nicotine inhalers). prescriptions or other permissions are required for higher doses of nicotine.

Schedule F drugs, in general, are controlled in terms of who can distribute them and how - but they are not illegal.
Nicotine is exempted as a schedule F drug when in strengths below 4mg per dosage unit (Food and Drug Regulations) (such as that found in cigarettes, patches, nicorettes, inhalers and eliquid).
There are other Schedule F drugs that have exemptions - such as Ibuprofin (Advil). Non exempt Schedule F's require a prescription - exempt Schedule F's don't. That's the general difference.

Customs can choose to stop any delivery at their own discretion, and have done so occasionally.
A risk is taken each time a shipment goes through customs, but not within the country. A Canadian distributor means they take the risk of losing the money and not you.
I'd suggest ordering from a Canadian distributor.

Basically, just get one from wherever you can. It's NOT illegal. For you. As a consumer. Let the seller worry about his status.

Use is in no way prohibited and no legal restrictions exist for its public use. I just follow the rule of asking first at a bar and if they say no then so be it. In public space however I just educate people and in many cases I end up giving referrals to my fav. retailer.

Nicotine Cartrages are illegal.
Wikipedia wrote:
In Canada, as of March 2009, the import, sale, and advertising of electronic cigarettes containing nicotine are banned in Canada, while non-nicotine e-cigs are legal and may be sold and advertised. Health Canada advised Canadian consumers not to purchase or use any electronic smoking products, cited prohibition of electronic smoking products containing nicotine in the Food and Drugs Act; no market authorization has been granted for any electronic smoking product.

You can get around it but...

Health Canada still allows the import of flavored zero nicotine cartridges, which is what you’re striving towards if you’re looking to quit smoking in the first place. Since electronic cigarette brands that ship to Canada aren’t always up to date with Canadian laws, most will still send you the nicotine cartridges anyway. However they risk not getting through customs.

I don't have the money to play shoots and ladders with customs.

I have yet to find a store that sells Nicotine Cartridges where I live.

Order everything else except the liquid first, so they have no reason to stop it when it enters the country.
E-liquid is quite cheap, so even if 4 of 5 shippings get seized on average, you're still getting away with it cheaper than just buying regular cigarettes.

I also hear that some local Canadian shops sell everything you need locally.
They're far more expensive locally (due to the local distributors having their shipments seized occasionally), but, eh, what can you do.

EDIT:

So, where DO you live ? Maybe the e-cig forums can tell you where you can find some reasonably nearby shops.

These guys here claim to be Canadian...

EDIT:
LOL, they can't accept CC//PayPal payments, only other more convoluted payment methods. And the e-juice is at least twice as expensive as anywhere else outside Canada.

If you feel it is the right decision for you, good. And good luck.

But keep in mind, video-gaming is just a leisure activity. There are people that read books, that go to bars, that play golf, that engage in any number of leisure activities. The one you enjoy happens to have other people from across the world in it and challenges you.

If somebody spends 1/7th of their time on their leisure activity if it was not a video game, would you feel they are doing something wrong?

Guess all I'm saying is, because it is fun and leisure and a video game, don't see the time spent in it as anything less than the time you'd spend on other leisure activities.

I quit smoking. It's easy after you have a heart attack and spend 2 months in intensive care. They don't let you smoke there. Haven't had a cigarette in 10 years, and I don't miss them.
