Im not sure how to stop that fps drop. Ive seen things like that the entire time Ive played eve.
As for capping the fps, look for the setting "interval immediate" In the graphics tab of the esc menu.It can be set to different things. Try interval one or two.

That might even help your fps drop. It gives the graphics co-processor a little time to stay caught up when there is a big change.

Closing all other open applications (particularly Safari) made a huge difference on my setup.

@CCP, could you provide some information on what is being done on your end to address the freezing issues Mac users are experiencing?

Since freezes seem to occur randomly and without notice, this makes it very risky to use the Mac client for anything which involves flying in space, since a freeze at the wrong moment could cost the player a ship + clone.

As far as myself is concerned, I can reproduce this problem quite easily, especially while dualboxing and switching between clients and also when exiting one of the clients, and I'm assuming that this is also the case for you guys.

Thanks,
A

1. Quit all other applications.
2. Disable audio (or set music level to 0).
3. Disable the 'Use multithreaded OpenGL' option.

It may not necessarily solve your issues, but most of us have had very good success with these actions.

While I appreciate these tips (and will certainly try these out:)), if I have to quit all other applications as well as disable audio, I might as well bootcamp into Windows 8 (Which is fine and no big deal, but as there is a Mac client available today, I would hope that CCP could address this issue sooner rather than later) :)

It seems that with the new release T2 mining crystals are taking damage much faster than they used to. I've been mining with a fresh set for 2,5 hours and they're already half gone.

Honestly, it really depends on your setup. I've only been running Scylla in single-client for a short while, but thus far it's been stable. I am running Safari alongside it and so far, no problems (the audio and OpenGL settings are still disabled). I'll try tweaking a few things to see if anything makes a difference (or results in more instability), but it's probably going to take a few days.

Addendum: I've been running the Sylla client all day with Safari in the background - stable thus far. The frame rate also seems to have improved dramatically, and I'm consistently averaging 55-60 fps. This is on a iMac Retina 5k with OS X 10.10.2. I also wanted to add that this was far and away the smoothest upgrade I've ever done; it literally took me 10 minutes to download and get back in the game. Kudos devs!

Have run several missions and have noticed that the wrecks and loot are a lot less prevalent or even nonexistent. Has anyone else noticed this??? Is this yet another stealth nerf to high sec mission running?? Soooooo pissed if that's the case!!! Tanks fer nuttin you mudder......!!!!! I'd really like an explanation please!!!

Known bug for this upgrade and already reported by the PC users. CCP is working to correct it.

So after some hesitation on my part because I really do not like having this shared cache folder on my tiny SSD I updated yesterday.
Everything went smooth and I logged in. Patched today again flew a bit around today, saw stuff being downloaded while flying around eventhough I previously had the entire client here. Logged out.

Logged back in 15 minutes later to see if I missed something behind the cog wheel and now the launcher is repeating the whole process of extracting files to the shared cache folder.

wtf?Shocked

I believe it got fixed with today's update.

NO EMPTY WRECKS. Keep this unannounced feature.

Improve server performance. Make salvage worth something again.

At least consider keeping this feature for anomalies, signature sites, and rogue drones if you decide to roll this back in regular mission and belts. These are blitz sites that hardly anyone ever salvages. So no one will miss those wrecks. In fact the experience will improve because rare wrecks with loot will be highlighted.

Did your SSD have sufficient space?

Might have restarted due to running out of space. Silly simplistic recovery idea but often still used.

If you got any possible space issues I would have changed the target location to a hard drive. You were given that option before extracting resources began. Well maybe not for Macs.

There were details on SiSi test server or a on demand blog about moving cache location after the fact. I forget which.

whereas using the Switch User functionality of the launcher I can still reproduce the issue.

Any plans on fixing that one?

We're in discussions with our partner regarding it, they are aware of the issue and that issue exists on their side. We are endorsing Clonemaker as a solution in the meantime.

Thanks for this! I'll definately install this then. Running 5 clients and having them all lock up whenever you want to change characters is rather harsh.

The workaround for me was to minimize the second EVE window (i only have 2 accounts) then open a chrome/firefox/whatever and have it open when i closed the EVE client so, focus will go to this chrome window and not the second EVE client.

I don't know why but this worked for me :)

Move the shared folder on your preferred storage and make a symlink :)

I recommend reading this entire thread. It was posted on page 1 or 2 that using the clonemaker would alleviate a lot of the crashing issues regarding client shutdown while multiboxing etc. I ran 5 clients most of last night with out any issues, with sound on in all of them.

Emergent Launcher Wobble:
(So far the deployment has been for me .. pretty damn good .. and the fact that there ARE ongoing convos with suppliers re improving the Mac performance has me doing cartwheels)
BUT
with each patch the launcher loses all my account info .. whereas it used to store a dropdown list of the accounts
not a major issue and if thats all i have to deal with .. Meh

O.k. I'm a bit confused I thought do to the famous Mac bug where we crash if you download stuff in the background that the Mac wasn't getting the download on demand? I believe a DEV mentioned this a week or so ago in the Sisi feedback thread. So has something changed with the crashing while downloading, or did we just unleash a wave of crashes on newbies who think they can run this on their mac?

We introduced a workaround for that issue. We're hoping that come the next Cider upgrade this will not be an issue at all.

Is there a time frame for that new cider upgrade? Days, weeks, months, or years away?

I just got back to EVE aftera break as i saw the new patch SCYLLA. And i read about the Download on demand launcher, i just can't get it to work. It still downloads 7 gb like before. And i did uninstall it before. So this is a clean install.

Am i doing something wrong?

Aye. Download on demand has two options for PC users: Actual DoD, and pre-download everything. Due to a bug in Cider, Macs freeze when eve is running and a download is taking place. So CCP locked the mac client to the pre-downloading everything option.
