Worst FanFest coverage I've ever not-experienced.

Just have to say. Playing 5.5 years. The coverage from all sources of this fanfest was terrible. It was quite literally almost as if it didn't even happen.

Hm... how exactly was it worse than previous fanfests?
The only complaint I have was the volume of the stream constantly jumping up and down ~10db.

How was it bad from CCP?

They streamed most of it live, you can go to twitch and watch it back now (with the program giving you times to click forward to for specific presentations) and all sessions will be uploaded separately in the next few days.

Maybe my standards are lower, but that seems ok to me.

Yeh. Production values were low (mostly due to cameras), and CCPers haven't been good at the talking heads thing ever.

Unfortunate, but true.

This is not a signature.

Thanks. The mics were very 90s as well. They should have headsets... there are some inconspicuous SHURE models that barely show on camera.

Meh, Honestly it's just nice to see what CCP is planning regardless of what they put into the production of it.

However during the Ship Balancing part of the show, It WAS extreamly annoying hearing that person breathing non-stop. XD

Yeah that was really annoying, volume going up/down up again....
wtf?

As for the talking 'heads', not worse then other years. Nice to see that Seagul got some more confidence standing and speaking on stage. Her first time introduce by soundwaffle was... well, ok lets forget that one. Smile

I noticed that and thought it was me / nothing of it. hah.

It does matter, though. The production values. It's not just us watching the stream, but also potential players and possible sponsors. I'm not just here to trash talk CCP.

There was considerably less coverage this year and less big announcements probably because of the new release schedule. Having all the news on Day one was a little strange there wasn't the same build up over the event.

For getting direct, face-to-face feedback from players about announced changes having the announcement before hanging out together is of course much better.

The rampant boozing appeared to have taken its toll on them on the last day. CCP Mimic couldn't even speak and was slurring all over the place - with only one eye open. Looks like they had way too much fun Roll

Can't blame the coffee for that one!

I must have watched a different stream. I enjoyed watching it very much.

Sound production is usually the last thing people consider when they're doing television. Calling something "streaming" doesn't not make it television, by the way. It took the TV industry decades before they realized high fidelity sound was a must. Some of us here must remember those three-inch across speakers TVs used to come with. I think Sony was the first to mount a set of stereo speakers on a TV. Now, we sit with some pretty high quality headphones, for the price, and expect high quality sound, but...yeah, people doing visual presentations don't really THINK about SOUND.

I've been in live performance for decades. Seeing "Shure" mentioned in an EVE post was almost a shock. But, be that as it may, give all the participants a nice hide-away Shure mic and they still have to know how to use it. Microphone discipline is taught. So is sitting in front of a camera, for that matter.

Face it. Once a year presentations don't justify going to this extreme. If it were even a monthly show, it'd be hard to justify the expense. See it as part of the innate charm of computer weenies trying to play television...thinking calling it "streaming" makes it a computer weenie function. It has a quaint sort of digital charm, no?

Cool

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Not referring to quality of video or audio streams.. The coverage, the information, who, when, where... TMC, EN24 et al..

If I didn't know FanFest was happening the only thing I would have seen was the Structure DevBlog that could have been confused for any regular DevBlog we get on the 3rd Friday of any random month.. We get DevBlogs all the time.

In the past I have felt appreciatively inundated with FanFest info and streams and news...

This time I had to seek out what little I found. That's basically all I'm saying.

We have updates of the game every 6 weeks now. There isn't much of hyping going on like it used to be with the 2 major releases. Perhaps that is the reason why other news providers aren't spending much time on it.
