Timezone question

Hello all. I'm back after an extended absence and considering my options; perhaps some more time in Eve Uni, perhaps it's time to join a corp, etc.

Everybody here seems to express their active time by saying they are in the US or EU timezone. I'd like to clarify what that means in terms of what time people are actually here.

I live in the PST timezone, but I play during the day, and do not play in the evening, as I suspect most people do. Does that make me "EU timezone" in the way that term is understood in Eve?

Yep. A corp which advertises as 'EU TZ based' means that is when they are active.

I also live in PST. Here is how I do it:

Add 3 hours for Eastern Standard time.

Add 7 to 10 hours for European time.

So for example:
It is 1pm PST right now.

On the eastern US it is 4pm

In Europe it is between 8 to 11pm.

Generally speaking... people play between 6pm to midnight (their local time).

Yeah, your play time falls together with EU prime (Though towards the end of it) or with early East coast players.

I would even go further in terms of timezone and differentiate between EU timezone and EU prime. The first is much wider in terms of timeslots involved (mainly weekends) while the latter is the actual hotspot for that "class of people" which is usually during the evening hours of their day.

yes a timezone refers to standard working hours so starting around 5-6 pm local and ending around 10-11.

Like J'Poll pointed out you could live in PST like you do and be active during some other TZ's prime time.

PST is 8 behind UTC and thus 9 behind on the biggest majority of Europe.

And this handy site by Chribba: http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility

Visualizes the busiest/quietest times in game.

As you can see, you will be on in a very active time slot.
