With the balance to all freighters and other haulers, I would like to see the skill Hull Upgrades apply to the actual hull:

  • Hull Upgrades

  • Skill at maintaining your ship's hull and installing hull upgrades like expanded cargoholds and inertial stabilizers.
    Grants a 5% bonus to structure hit points per skill level

  • Add a new Skill called Armor Upgrades:

  • Skill at maintaining your ship's armor it grants a 5% bonus to armor hit points per skill level

  • Change the Shield Upgrades skill to:

  • Skill at regulating a spaceship's shield systems. 5% bonus to shield capacity per skill level

  • and the skill Shield Management to:

  • Skill at installing shield upgrades e.g. shield extenders and shield rechargers. 5% reduction in shield upgrade powergrid needs.

    For Armor HP train Mechanics, you even don`t have to pay for it. It is on level 2 for new chars :)

    The other stuff is just renaming existing skills

    I admit the present naming system is less than intuitive. Maybe they'll address it - they've shown a willingness to change skill names in the past to make them better fit their actual use.

    Mechanics -> Hull Upgrades
    Hull Upgrades -> Armor Upgrades
    Shield Management -> Shield Upgrades (and vice versa)

    I don't really see the problem with it, but it's not exactly high oin the list of priorities. Toss it in the little things thread for Punkturis.

    nah it may not make seance with the skill bonuses but all of the mods you unlock from them fit

    and shield management makes more seance than shield upgrades anyway so that one is fine

    as to the OP please do at the very least a google search b4 posting

    but i have hull upgrades trained and not mechanics now i need to retrain to use my mods?

    it's more then just a name change when you do stuff like this

    Edit:

    As well hull is the armor

    its the player base that has given this name to the structure so the names are right as is

    CCP has a few misnomers....meh.

    I will insert my usual lets switch the names javelin and spike around here for hydrid ammo. Always thought it odd this. They redid the entire missile lineup to be less confusing iirc a bit back. Hardwires lost the vague names to have what they boosted in the name now. Yet here I am....still loading spike to shoot far far away and javelin for sr damage output. Guess in Iceland when they lay down train tracks they really put them rail road spikes deeeeeeeep lol. And maybe their track and field programs in school produce some really short throwing javelin throwers.

    Rest of this stuff.....train any skill to boost hp of the freighter. Don't matter the name....train it. My charon days go way back....shield, armour and hull trained for them. All natural pure skill tank (booster ofc if you had one I guess could be a factor)...I made it the best tank I could have all around.

    Also gives bene's to other areas. I have had shield tanked pvp ships limp home as that little tweak to armor and hull let me live long enough to clear the boat from primary calls when shields were done. Shield HP has helped armour rides I have do the same as they soaked up some damage delaying the hits to my actual tank.

    Even a few hundred HP can be the difference between smoking hull warping on the hail may pass clearing and seeing your pod...then corpse. Name shouldn't matter for this imo just the bonuses it gives.
