I recently discovered mobile micro jump unit and have found that structure very curious little thing in pvp situations that you are about to loose or get whelped in. While it does not work every time, it has got me couple of good times out of bad situations, especially when facing kiting fleets in brawling ship. I personally prefer brawling over kiting and to me mobile micro jump unit has been awesome way to get out of tackle.

Have anyone else here used any mobile structures in pvp and if so, which and what is your opinion about them? Mobile bubbles and cyno inhibitors are obvious, but how about the less loved mobiles like depots, jump units or scan inhibitors?

I use the Depot to refit in stationless systems.
For solo Frig PvP, I'll switch my scram for a second web if a Hookbill comes looking for a tussle.
And various other niche fit changes.

HMM. interesting.

I was in an FW plex in my Kite Tristan when I had a player from a respected PVP alliance come in. I was kiting him to a slow death when all of a sudden he dropped a mobile depot, fit stabs and moon walked out.

Question: is this ---

A . A smart tactic
B. Lame because we were in T1 frigs so no expensive loss mail.
C. Both

Please chime in, Big smile (i had forgotten about this until I read this post)

I think the use of mobile structures is limited due to deployment time. This is difficult to change because what becomes useful at small scale ships makes them stronger at larger scale cos of the tank.

Sard Caid uses MJU´s a lot. It´s pretty decent way to catch some kitey ships or simply set a trap. If they think you´ve got seperated or a gangmate you make them pay. That thing is an awesome piece of tech for sure.

The problem here is the slow death... it takes a full minute for a mobile depot to deploy and be usable, if you can't wreck him or call in friends to get additional points on him in that time frame, then I think the guy did the smart move and deserves some credit... No sense in sticking around and dying in a situation where your brawling ship is caught by a kiter if you don't have to!

For OP:

Haven't used the micro jump drive unit structures although maybe its worth a shot. I could see surprising someone with one since I don't think most people have them on their overview.

I have however used some of the others quite routinely, namely: depots and cyno inhibitors.

Mobile Depots for refitting or dumping loot into. This is particularly great for ECM ships in my experience. Refitting the proper jams really makes you that much more effective.

Cynosaural Field Inhibitors.... great for fleets with Battleships and larger. Nothing can ruin your day faster than a ship uncloaking near your fleet and lighting a cyno. So they're worth it in some situations, but I wouldn't mind if the deployable was cheaper, especially since its a one-time use product.

The one I'm most disappointed with is the scan inhibitor. It costs too much and is so easily countered that it really isn't worthwhile. Even in a plex where we've tried using one, war targets just send in a friendly militia alt/spy to see our comp and arrangement because they know we won't / can't afford to awox them. I think they have a niche use for keeping a small ninja-operation of capital ships off d-scan but that's about it.
