So it's pretty much like real life and all the inane warning labels we have now?

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

Yep. The real world nanny state is creeping into New Eden.

I think part of the problem is that the "intended" mechanic of using a web to warp-assist freighters is not spelled out, or even hinted at, in-game.

- Bringing an escort of big guns doesn't work. CONCORD protects the bumper too. And you're not going to do enough damage to a gank fleet to be of much help.
- Scouts don't help and aren't needed; we already know where the bad guys are: They’re at the choke points.
- Bumping-the-bumper is of limited value. If gankers can bring dozens of ships then they can spare a 5-6 more for hobo tackling. You can't counter-bump that.

I'll grant your point on bringing people with guns.

However, a scout WILL help. You cannot be bumped if you don't jump into the system with the bumping ship. That is the point of a scout. Don't jump, dock up, hostile bumper in a mach. And guess what, they are not always there. I've gone through Uedama and most of the time there is no bumping ship there. Nor in Sivala either.

Step 1: Use a Scout

If you jump your freighter into Uedama local with 35 GCC players flashing in local and 2 Machariels on the gate, you have already lost the fight. This is the Eve equivalent of wandering into the bad side of town with a flashing neon sign flashing, "Easy Mark."

Indeed. And the scout does not have to be an alt. Expecting a single player to be able to defeat a group of players is expecting a bit much.

Step 2: Plan Your Trip

Your map is an incredibly powerful tool for mining information.

You have tools both in and out of game to tell you how many people have died in a system. If you see Uedama has a recent number of kills, and you look on kill boards and see what has been killed and still try to autopilot through...your a fool and you deserve whatever happens to you.

Its a rather helpful article.

In particular this part...

If you don't have an alt account for scouting, make a friend. Seriously, it's not that hard.

Stop insisting that CCP solve your problem when you can solve them yourself. Yes, it might mean you have to chat with people in game...maybe even on TS. I know, socializing in an MMO...crazy.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.
