Welcome, or goodbye, to EVE OP.

Where everone hates you and each other. Big smile

Except for a few select people, so you hang out with them and make your own fun.

We're assaulted on all sides, even CCP hates me these days. But the fun you make makes it #worth

If you can't find a place or a way to make your EVE fun then good luck in the future wherever you end up next.

The fact that you cant call someone a bit ch still struggles me in this so called cold pvp game.

[quote=HarleyDavidson Nightrain]I beta tested this game 10 yrs ago. I saw back then it was going to be a carnival of degenerates who got their rocks off "bullying" weaker opponents and so I never bought the game when it launched.

Carnival of degenerates has a nice ring to it. It's not the insult you think it is.

I agree, "carnival of degenerates" does have a nice ring to it. I'll try to use it often. By the way, I just noticed that last week was this char's 3rd year anniversary in the carnival of degenerates.

Your Death-O-Meter eloquently points out what I said in my post. I would love to enjoy this game for a long time and delve into the finer points it has but that doesn't seem possible with the mentality which exists among some of the player base.

Parasites left unchallenged eventually kill the host when the Host has an indifferent attitude. Wise up before it's too late.

First I'd like to point out that "eve is dying" has become a meme and as such is of no practical use in regards to EvE's health in terms of player satisfaction. "eve is dying" started when some space themed MMOs where first announced and seemed to "correct all of EvE's shortcomings". Some of those games were:

- Star Trek Online (This subscription based game by Cryptic Studios that was sold of and went Free 2 Play pretty quickly)
- Black Prophecy (by Reakktor Media. RIP BP.)
- Jumpgate Evolution (RIP)

interestingly enough World of Tanks and League of Legends did more "damage" (lol) to EvE than those space themed games. RIP Soundwave.

As for the mentality of EvE's playerbase, I can see nothing wrong with us … and I usually don't refer to myself in plural.

I fretted a bit about Elite: Dangerous - not as EVE done right, but as something that might appeal to the proportion of the EVE playerbase that wants internet spaceships but not cheerful amorality.

Turns out, nothing to worry about...

Ah yes, Elite Dangerous. I avoided mentioning ED and Star Citizen aswell for two reasons:

1) I didn't want to spark that discussion again.
2) I think people who have played the original games (Elite and Wing Commander) should definitely try out those games.

But you're right: nothing to worry about, because EvE is different in some very crucial points. CCP has got its niche.

P.S.
Star Trek Online, was rather successful (Qapla' !) … but it still belongs in the fail! category due to:
1) selling lifelong subscriptions for 200$ and then going Free 2 Play
2) not attaining the millions of expected subscriptions expected while under Cryptics responsibility.
3) being sold of as "… meh, it's dead Jim !"
4) failing to kill EvE despite "walking in stations, on planets … heck even on the bridge of a spaceship"

P.P.S.
sometimes I wonder if CCP have a secret place where they keep track of all the space themed games that tried to copy EvE or just parts of EvE and failed horrendously … think like fighter planes get markings for every confirmed kill.

P.P.P.S.
We should not make fun of failed games after Incarnagate and Dust514 … not to mention World of Darkness (sincere R.I.P.)

P.P.P.P.S.
Lol, ignore my P.P.P.S.

Don't anger the forum gods.

Quit your whining. You say you like pvp but then you cry about it. This isn't honorable space combat PVP, it's kill or be killed PVP, if you don't like it that is fine, but to expect to be given preferential treatment because you are new is not going to help anyone, especially you. Find some friends and ask them to teach you how to play. If you are trying to PVP by yourself in a game of teamwork, you will always lose.

Your attitude is quite toxic. I never said I was even trying to PvP. On the contrary, I was exploring in a probe ship. Only a fool would try to PvP in a game they just started versus people that have a 10 year head start.

No, you are just an idiot.

I'm an 11 year player, and anyone, even a single day noob, can most likly kill me. Get your head out of your ass and learn how to play the game. SP mean nothing
