Hi,

I'm about to join a small 0.0 corp to get into eve and quit highsec stuff. Since Im only capable of flying missile boats (drake, raven) for PvE, I'm wondering what to skill for small/mid scale pvp as a caldari.

I see a lot of blaster fits but since those skills are completly missing I wonder if there are other effective ways to play a small support/tackler role (i think thats my role in pvp the first few months...). Also why should I skill blaster when I can just go minmatar ships over the long run? Heard blasters arent that balanced compared to projectile weapons?

Would love to see some specific fittings you choosed to play as a new 0.0 pvp player, I think also electronic warfare would be a good option for me, since I wont do any kills anyway with my current skill level?

If you have the gunnery skills there, training up small/medium projectiles and minmatar frigate/cruiser should take a week tops, to get into a hurricane or cyclone, your support skills should be covered.

If you did want to stick with Caldari as support, you have options with the interceptors as tackle or the Blackbird/Falcon or Scorp for Ewar. Logistics with the Osprey/Basilisk is a solid choice to.

I lied :o

It takes about a week or so to train all the gunnery skills to level 3 so that you can reasonably use every T1 turret (Gunnery 5 is required for large turrets, but it is a fast training rank 1 skill). I know because I recently did this myself.

I'm primarily a Caldari pilot, but I'm currently sitting in a Minmatar Hurricane. I just wanted to try something different.

I'm currently training Heavy Assault Missiles 5 though, as I do like missiles.

I can pilot both a Naga and a Tornado now, as I can fit turrets for both, though my gunnery skills still need work.

It is worthwhile to train at least a bit of gunnery skills.

Don't forget the Drake. I might be off but I believe it is the most common flown PvP ship if not it is close.

Great adapatapility with engaing both small and large targets, insane tank, the ability to fit the ship 100% passive so nuets will not matter, and you can fit FoF missles if you want to deal with those that jam.

Also on the cheap, will run you slightly more than T2Frigs but the insurance covers most of the loss.

If you have been mission running you should already have most skills needed to be effective assuming you didn't just speed up the chain training minimal and ignoring core skills. Don't forget the BC skill the 5% per lv resistance on the Drake is one of the reasons it is so popular.
