Eve is a very impressive game in 4K.

The Dell UP2715K offers 5K, and you can see a gallery here of major battles in 5K (70% more pixels than 4K).

Eve in 5K Gallery

I've also recorded the game's two most destructive battles in 4K:

Titanic Struggle of B-R in 4K

Serenity Server's battle of 49-U in 4K

At these kind of resolutions, video RAM usage is intense - pushing the limits even of the GeForce Titan's 6Gb. However, the framerate itself is CPU-limited with SLI Titans, even on 5960X cpu (heavily overclocked). I have some 'big battle' benchmarks that I'll write up at some point, to show the value of cache, single-core performance, etc. Brackets are a major factor in terms of CPU vs. GPU load, but I have never and will never turn them off in a battle.

For 5K resolution, the 12Gb of the forthcoming Titan-X cards will be very helpful in the huge fights.

There's a lot of talk about Star Citizen and Elite:Dangerous in 4K and yet I feel that, even without an HD texture pack, Eve still has the edge thanks to its fantastic lighting and art assets. The only real disappointment is that the recent UI updates did not include HUD scaling appropriate for 5K (and even 4K is a bit of stretch on the high dpi screens).

What's the main difference between 1080P and 3840 × 2160 for eve? Worth upgrading for 4k (new screen + graphic card) next year mainly for eve?

It depends a bit on how you set it up (scaling %) but typically it is a combination of putting more "spreadsheet" on the screen and somewhat better rendering quality.

If you don't feel that your screen is crammed full of windows (overview, d-scan, chats, fleet window) you may not care about the first and if you run at reduced settings you may not care about the second.

Your videos were one reason for me to consider 4k ;-)

Why such low FPS? I'm running a 1 year old Alienware, and it's giving me 100+ FPS with everything maxed out on dual 30" LED's. With 2 clients running, i get 90+ FPS...

Well, the physical screen size doesn't matter at all. Only number of pixels do. 4k screens have 4 times the pixels of full-HD ones. So either your screens have lower resolution (full-HD?) or your machine is faster than mine.

Not to rub salt into the old 3.5gb wounds, but isn't dual 4k supposed to be run on SLI with 4gb cards?

As Lord Maldoror wrote even 4GB is less than optimal. But as you may know you currently have to pay quite a premium beyond 3.5 or even 4GB.

Anyway, while many fast paced shooters will play and/or look worse on dual 4k than on lower res screens, EVE IMHO already gains from this setup today.
