My 7 Day Experience with EVE and the reason why I'm leaving.

Hello all, my name is Kaz. I recently got into this game known as EVE. I was introduced to it by a person who shall remain anon out of RESPECT for the person that I still but shouldn't have anymore. I was inducted into the Goon Swarm Fleet as my very first corp and even in game EVE experience, much to my liking it really was fun, I made alot of progress with just simple salvaging, made roughly 1.2bil in 7 days of salvaging while waiting for the skills to train for me to get into a Procurer to start ICE mining, which I was extremely excited about. But like all good things, they are ruined by some who can get away with abuse of power or rank and the blatant show of disrespect by the higher ranks to the lower ranks. This disrespect being outside the realm of friendliness or in a light manner, this was verbal disrespect that was given to me for following an order and doing exactly what I was told to do, to just in turn get bitched out for following said order which lead to me retaliating and trying to stand up for myself and share my part of the story on why I felt like I was being wronged and/or being disrespected. So today, I got contacted by Markonius Porkbutte who is the CEO of Karma Fleet an ally to Goon Swarm Fleet. Heres how the convo went. Well I just now noticed we have a character limit on each post so I'll have to break this up into multiple reposts on this thread. I hope it doesnt take up too many boxes but I'll do my best to shed some light on why I believe that if you are a new player or even a vet on why you should be wary of joining GSF or its allies at any point in your EVE career.

So with this being said. I wanted to make sure that all of you are aware of how volatile this Goon Swarm Fleet can be and how if your not in with their "clique" of rank then your pretty much gaurenteed to be nixed if someone has a grudge against you. But I wish everyone that plays EVE the best of luck and happiness with this game, its just sad that some have to ruin the game for others such as myself. I would like opinions OUTSIDE of Goon Swarm Fleet as to what they think of the situation or on the fact of who was actually in the wrong. But as we all know, GSF members are gonna stumble upon this thread and stick their guns with their own people and flame me for posting such things on the forums. I just wanted to make it publicly known that while GSF was fun, if you join them and you stand up for yourself in the slightest way when an officer blatantly disrespects you and tells you to literraly "**** off" in a round about way, dont expect to be in that corp for long as they will escalate the situation to the CEO who will in turn play the passive card and have you kicked without having your side of the story heard. Cheers to all, it was fun for the 7 days that it lasted. This corps has officially ruined my view on this game and I will sadly be uninstalling after jsut 7 short days of enjoyment from this game.

So you are going to let one corp - and one known for being ass-hats in many ways (grrr goons and all that) drive you out of the game?


Back in my day, when phones had a little disc on it that rotated and were attached to the wall with a wire, men were ashamed to be thought of as a quitter.

Also, sadly the first half of the conversation got cut off seeing as the EVE client only stores so many messages in a box at one time before deleting them, but overall this gives you a good look at how things are run on the inside of GSF

Look for a folder called "Eve" in your documents subfolder, assuming you are using Windblows. Everything is in there. Even stuff you might hope is not.

You have an austist-like hangup with being disrespected, and it highlighted a major difference between your expectations, and the culture of your corporation.

You think respect is a right, whereas everyone else sees respect as something that's earned.

It isnt so much as I'm letting them run me off but also the fact of things I've heard about their high sec blacklists and such I'd rather not rip my hair out trying to enjoy the game when they are going to just create a squad for making my EVE experience miserable, I'd rather not give them that satisfaction.

I will however give a shout out to the SINGLE person in GSF that was always cool to me no matter what happened and has even tried to convince me to stay a part of EVE just so we can keep in touch, that would be my hoe Moocifer, AKA Vanilla Moose, if ANY of you have the pleasure of meeting him, he is probably the one guy in GSF that will always retain my respect. I love ya Moose and you made playing EVE for these short 7 days extremely fun and I wish you the best! :D

Knowing Markonious pretty well, I'd say your removal was just. I mean you are the same guy that literally wanted to rage quit over having your song skipped on plug.dj afterall.

I just wanted to comment, there seems to be some confusion over "corp" and "alliance." There's no such entity as Goon Swarm Fleet for example. Goonswarm Federation is an alliance, notice the lack of space and "Fleet." And KarmaFleet is a corp in Goonswarm Federation.

Also I get called way worse things than I assume you have, and I laugh or rage about it depending on my mood. I do the same as well to others. It's just the culture.
