Yet Another Rattlensnake Question

I have the following Rattlesnake fit for slaughtering Sepentis. According to EFT I do a little less than 1,200 dps; however, the combat log shows I average less than 600 dps. Some of that is due to resists; however, I am looking for advice on if there may be a better boat or approach as even Forlorn Hubs take a long time to complete and I can't believe sanctums would be possible.

What say you all about where I can make some non-bling and bling improvements?

[Rattlesnake, Ratting]

5x 'Arbalest' Cruise Launcher I (Caldari Navy Scourge Cruise Missile)
Drone Link Augmentor II

2x Thermic Dissipation Field II
Kinetic Deflection Field II
Large Shield Booster II
Sensor Booster II
Large Micro Jump Drive
Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron

Damage Control II
2x Ballistic Control System II
3x Drone Damage Amplifier II

Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Large Warhead Rigor Catalyst I
Large Warhead Flare Catalyst I

2x Curator II
2x Bouncer II
2x Garde II
1x Garde II

Is there a reason you say this? I ask because at the current ratio I create more paper DPS than I do with more drone mods.

• Swap 'Arbalest' launchers for Cruise Missile Launcher II's
• Swap Sensor Booster II for Omnidirectional Tracking II
• Swap Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I for Large Drone Control Range I
• Swap Damage Control for Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer II

serpentis damp a lot, sebo would be helpful although it's possible just to let drones pick their own targets.

I agree with the rest though.

as to the OP:

why not use active hardeners? Serpentis don't neut.

You can mini bling the shield booster to X-L guristas, you don't need it running all the time, just pulse it when you need hp.

True enough. Auto-targeting missiles are also helpful against Serpentis.

Your drone selection can be improved. Go with:
2 x warden
2 x garde
5 x light drone (either rat specific or hobgobs)
vs serpentis
Leaves you with 50 left which I use for 1 gecko.
Your rigs should be at least 2 x rigor. I prob would go with a 3rd rigor instead of the drone one, I remember that I wasnt very impressed by the increase. Depends on your skills.

For eft: Do you use lv5 skills or your actual ones?

It's probably adding less than 5% overall drone DPS.

A rattlesnake shines more with a Gecko. With heavies to lvl IV and three drone amps, my gecko deals about 740dps. The efficient way to go about it would be to use the gecko for frigs and cruisers while kiting battleships would be left to sentries. A target painter would help the gecko hit targets a bit easier.

Also, consider switching to rapid heavies as well. The amount of cruise missile damage mitigated due to sig and speed of rats is worth the switch for longer reload times, unless there's substantially more battleships to deal with than cruisers and frigs.

My actual skills. Ill look into your comments. There must be a happy medium between paper dps and applied dps.

How are you determining DPS from combat log? Are you actually adding everything up... And doing math?

Replace that Flare I with a Rigor I if you have the calibration for it (you should). A Rigor I is better than a Flare I in all circumstances, and the only reason to ever fit a Flare instead of a Rigor is due to calibration limitations.

If a T2-fit cruise Raven can one-shot npc battlecruisers and has no issues with Sanctums, a Rattlesnake should just rip through them like tissue paper.

The issue is the tank in forlorn hubs. Nit enough death fast enough and i can't keep the shield ripper running. Unless a sanctum does less dps. Could be i just have no idea what I'm doing. Seems to me i warp in at 70 drop the drones and kill. Switch Dr Rome's as they get closer and as i start taking damage i need to warp out. I have desent shield skills too.

I see the problem. Every time you enter a keyboard command in EVE, your auto-correct client mangles the command thus getting you killed, e.g. "F1" gets corrected to "Fin".

That must be it. You have solved my problems.
