So, thinking about the new sov changes... if PL, Goonswarm, and NC are going to have to start mining half the belts in 0.0 in order to maximize their defensive indexes... I guess we should prepare for plummeting mineral prices! Discuss.

I haven't read the blog yet, but I'm wondering if this might also cause a moongoo spike?

I strongly suspect that the 'failure to mine makes your space easier to take' aspect of the changes will be adjusted prior to launch.

I dont think this is true as it does not follow the plan ccp has laid out. They want things you do in a system to help keep the sov, you cant not have mining included into this equation, if mining does not help or hinder the process then the renter alliamces will crash as alot of them mine. It needs to be inclyded into the process bc it is counted as using your system. The big alliances may not HAVE to mine as they have the manpower to defend multipule systems at once.

I think mining should be one of several ways to prove that you are actively using a system.

But requiring people to actively use space is not the same as insisting that those players that would rather do exploration instead drop the exploration ship and pull out a barge. Or, for that matter, forcing people who would rather mine to instead do exploration sites.

Back on topic though - if the system goes live as proposed, minerals other than Mexallon are going to sink like the Titanic.
