I'm going to be doing a presentation, at this years about EVE's markets and trading. Therefor I want to ask you, if you have ideas or suggestions, or just something you would like to seen talked about, that I could also include.

The overall idea is :
Title : Confessions of an EVE trillionaire

Description : Ever wondered what goes on behind the curtains in Jita, or how people turn 20m into 1t profits ? Here is your chance to have a peek behind the curtains, and get a glimpse of some of the things that go on, through a personal take and experience of EVEnomics.

The biggest problem , and for the current traders the biggest advantage , is that people find trading boring. They give it a go for a few weeks at most and then decide to get out of it instead of sticking to it for a few more weeks wich is the time needed to ''ídentify how the player market works''.

As such what i would suggest , wich probably will be verry hard to accomplish , is to show that '' If at first you don't succeed,Try, try, try again ... '' -sorry hickinson for quoting you on this one Blink . If you could find a way to show how much fun trading can be , that alone would be a big thing.

As i have said many times before , i hate spreadsheets , hated math at school and sucked at it big time and have no clue what so ever about economics and yet i have allways found enjoyment in trading in eve.It is by far the best way for anyone who is pvp orientated to ''aquire yourself pvp assets''.Show them the risks one has to take at times , the losses one can aquire , show them the thrill of it.Trading isn't like ship pvp , it goes much much further then that.

Too bad only a few of us can enjoy this part of eve life , but then if more would enjoy it our enjoyment probably would be less.

I am not good at combat pvp, probably because of the same reason - wasn't persistent enough, however I was persistent enough in trade to find out that this is where I belong. As I get better, it gets even more interesting.
As for the FanFest - It will be nice to cover the down part of the trade - taking the risks, losing billions, due to market shifts or unexpected in-game changes (jump fatigue actually turned out to be bad for business), or simply a missclick - yeah, I've lost a lot because of a simple mistake. Don't modify important orders if you are tired :) I've also earned ISK from other people's mistakes. There are so many things to mention. Trade has rich history.

Interesting premise. If you were to include a tale about your biggest score. Threw down 100 billion on something and cashed out x10. People love big numbers.

Talk about how you can use expert-level knowledge in a narrow aspect of EVE to your advantage.

For instance, someone might know a *lot* about Caldari FW from three months in the militia, and use that information to make ISK supplying the militia members with their preferred ships, and placing buy orders for militia produced items like Datacore - Quantum Physics .

Well in wich case we could say that no actuall eve player should do a presentation at fanfest then?As in some sense one could allways interpretate that as self-adulation.People like to hear other eve players talk about their experiences , even if for some it might come over as self-adulation , wich is why the 'this is eve' trailer was seen as the best eve trailer ever.

I would like to point out, that I strongly believe the following :

No one else is capable of making a presentation at FanFest other than me.
No one else could make nearly as good a presentation as me.
No one else has better/more knowledge than me.
No one else is more important than me.
Everyone should listen to me.
Everyone should give me their respect and full attention.
I'm incapable of making any mistakes.
I'm the center of the world.

...sure... Roll

That or ... maybe I'm just willing to actually share some of my knowledge, in the hopes that other people would find it; insightful, helping, beneficial or funny Blink

“From even the greatest of horrors irony is seldom absent.” H.P.Lovecraft .

But i allways loved this line more : “That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die.” .But that's mostly due to it being on an iron maiden flag , of wich i was a big fan in my younger days Lol.

How your trading strategy evolved over time.
I'm going to start talking gibberish, stick with me I hope it will turn to a relevant point.
In chemistry they teach kids that atoms are the smallest things. Later they then turn around and explain there are smaller things. This continues.
The point is you start off with a simple model. The model helps understand the system being modeled.
Once the model has reached the limits of it's usefulness a new model is then used to reach beyond these limits.

How about a similar evolution of market models or trading methods. Why each works, where it starts to fail, what the next step is.
e.g. 0.1 isk trading versus 90% of best price in the last year trading.
The advantages and disadvantages of different strategies, under what circumstances each shines, and where they shouldn't be used.

Other random bits and bobs -
Less well know market strategies e.g.
Canary orders of small batches of goods sold at high prices designed purely to form an alert for a fast turn around manufacturer once they start selling.

I want to say thanks for the many great ideas already Smile

I will try to work most of them into the presentation. There also some, that I'm in no way capable of talking about, due to lack of knowledge and so on. So I will leave those out.

PLEASE, let the ideas coming - The presentation is still very much "work in progress" Roll
