A General Silly Question I Likely Know the Answer To.

Ok, so a bit of background:

To make my ISK currently I run missions for an Amarr corp located in Caldari space. This being the case, I obviously get a roughly even balance between Laser-friendly missions and those which aren't so much so.

Well, right now I am hopping between a Paladin and a Golem depending on the mission. My issue (if it can be called that, more annoying then anything) is currently to do so, I switch between a gunnery clone and a missile clone. Everyone knows how irritating frequent clone jumping is, bleh. To heighten my annoyance, I have gotten very bored with missiles as I started my Eve life using them because grasping the factors involved with gunnery were a bit much at first.

Anyway, to get to my point/question:

I am considering training for a Kronos or Vargur as a replacement for the Golem to use in those missions where a Paladin is sub-optimal. This would allow me to just have the single gunnery clone so I would no longer have to repeatedly clone hop.

So, all this being said, I assume that with me being in Caldari space, the Kronos would generally be the better option over the Vargur, correct?

Correct, and the Kronos will have higher racial armour resists against the stuff you encounter in Caldari space. As long as it's not a FW corp with missions vs the Matar. Shocked

why not just use the golem for everything. Missiles are good for any kind of high sec missioning.

Because like all marauder its a sub par boat? It only better at tanking and lets face it that tank is just not needed for lvl 4s

Maybe get a clone without bonuses specifically for missiles or guns like halos or snakes or something. Also yes the Kronos Wil be the best choice in Caldari space

Fair enough.

I would just go with a vargur then since it has damage selection and pretty nice range in comparison to the Kronos.

The biggest question is "who is your Worlds Collide"?
If the Caldari Space is overruling the Amarr corp and you're getting Serp/Guristas then maybe there's a value in the Kronos but I would probably go for the Vargur... (especially if it were the Sansha(or is it Blood?)/Angel).
Though the increased mobility is of minimal effect to most due to Bastion the selectable damage, the long range on high RoF, high tracking guns (if Auto fit - haven't tried the Vargur with 1400s yet; haven't needed to) is a very potent combination. Yes, you're generally attacking the second lowest resist (Thermal) rather than the lowest (Kinetic) but it still wrecks mission rats very rapidly.
