Did it ever occur to you that CCP's servers may be located in your area, thus the people who work on them have the same work/sleep schedule as you do? :p

What you're suggesting with rotating down-times means that people who perform work on these servers would have rotating shifts, sleeping at various times of the day/night throughout the week. I dunno if you've ever tried this, but it causes lots of insomnia and exhaustion in the work-place.

The people who work for CCP are just like you, they want a steady work-schedule; this is the schedule they feel maximizes their efficiency. We all know things don't always go according to plan.

yes security guards, firemen, policemen, hospital staff all suffer greatly from strange hours.. its not for everyone but then again u dont have to work there if u dont like the hours no?

with current unemployment rates world wide im sure theres someone willing to work the hours. Wont work those hours ? fine well find someone who can. Not like these guys are getting paid with peanuts.

also personally i see this as an incident. It will become a problem if it occurs more often and is not dealt with a good root cause solution.

Griping about downtime is not a big deal at all. It's when compensation for the downtime is demanded that I think the post becomes unreasonable. If you'll notice I don't say anything to a reply that consists of, 'darn, EVE is down. guess i gotta go do something else for an hour or two'.

Also, the conversation was not directed towards you, yet another more aggressive poster. I apologize if you felt singled out. :>

As for the not dealing with it thing, CCP continues to update saying they are working on it. They are losing money as long as they servers aren't up; there's no reason for them /not/ to be working on it. :p

Considering this was an unexpected problem and not an update, upgrade or an install of any kind. . .

So it's a tad bit hard to make an announcement on unexpected problems unless you can predict the future. . . About that "lost time" today. . . well it'll keep being "lost time" unless you did anything good while they were fixing the problem

Having played many a game run by disintegrating publishing houses in the past with regular 9 hour server maintenances (non-extended, by the way) has left me desensitized to long downtimes. Luckily though in EVE because of skill queues I keep making progress even when the server is uncooperative. We've got it good here, guys.
