This is a x-post from Reddit
Fitting a ship with a shitton of modules in hangar, stacked or unstacked, can be a major pain in the ass if you don't have fit saved. CCP once came up with a brilliant new fitting screen where you could easily access all the applicable modules on the left side of the fitting screen and fit them with a single click. Not a single right click or click&drag was involved. Screenshot Here. I can't understand why they scrapped this brilliant idea.

Edit: If this was scrapped because of some limitation of the old gui system, as suggested in this thread, then I think this feature should be re-introduced to the fitting screen, in light of the recent introduction of the Carbon UI.

Is it possible somehow to fit many modules with just 1 drag/click/something? Like 8 turrets.. it's annoying to drag each one individually :P

I remember that and also wonder why it disappeared.

But that sort of things seem to happen all the time, just look at the nice blue CQ<->hangar button we had above the undock button for a while on SiSi. I also remember a new neocom that looked really nice but for some reason got scrapped.

It's like the devs happen to look at the forum that particular day and happened to see a random negative post about that particular feature and then decided right then and there that the eve population hated the feature and removed it.

I remember seeing it aswell, it was scrapped in favor of the current (ok maybe a few generations backBlink) one when it had issues.

If I recall correctly the problem was with moving the fitting window, it was stuck right in the middle of the screen.

Yeah, reminds me, I was a few month's ago on SiSi and marveled over the new overview icons that made it instantly visible if there where battleships, (battle)cruisers, frigates or what ever ships on the overview.

Now that I think is a great loss it got (apparently) scrapped too. Sad

I'm quite sure you're able to drag stacks of turrets, although I'm not 100% sure right now.

As for the concept/preliminary image: I think it's a bit obsolete. All they did was attatching a inventory window. And let's be honest, once you've got a decent amount of items in your hangar (e.g. from missioning), that will be as useful as the usual hangar view. I rather see them improving the filter options for the existing window, so you could do stuff like searching for "slot:mid cat:shield" and get all mid slot shield items listed.

I just resubbed when I saw this thread. Becuase it needs to beknown. That the neo neocom was really awesome, and I would, seriously, buy 5 years wroth of eve subs if they brought it back. Becuase it show they would always advance and move forward and thus are worth my money.

Also the badass fitting window OPTIONAL fitting tool was awesome. With the new fitting save features it would be awesome if they worked together. But it was stupid because it was collapsible. Meaning anyone could of just pressed the arrows once and never have to deal with the window they hate so much.

In fact CCP could of made it start minimized. but a lot of people would of used it. And they allready fixed that whole eve can't read items inside cans limit. So having cans of items could even be built into the old version of the window.

It's dumb, it's dumb they pulled those 2 UI advances. Without giving them a good run on TQ and getting real feedback.

the neo neocom was pulled after a 3 page thread of whining.

It's not just a inventory window, it let you picks items in your hanger by weapon type, armor mods, shield mods, cap mods, everything had a little drop down box that only showed the items that you would want to equip to your ship.

it even had a drone filter, and ammo filter. So if you only wanted to open an inventory window with just the ammo you have in station, YOU COULD DO THAT.

Unless they've changed that already,
which i don't really believe ...

... no.

Also ... "i'm quite sure" ... "although i'm not 100%" sure.

*lol*

Also ... fitting is easy as hell already anyway.

If they removed everything that annoys every idiot out there,
we'd have a point and click adventure.

Yeah, not 100% sure, i told you. :D

MotherMoon: Okay, that makes it a lot more useful. But at the same time, such filtering would be neat for all item listings.

completely. They could of patched the one you see in the future to be more and more useful. Or even put the tech right into the normal hanger item view.

just don't like they gave up on it.

The fitting window just had a lot of issue before we released Apocrypha. There were all sorts of problems with the left hand side, and the performance of the inventory filter was pretty bad. When it came down to it, that was something we were willing to drop in order to be able to fix all the other issues in the window and deliver a solid fitting window (that's at least how I remember it).
I think there were also some concerns about the window size, but I think the biggest factor was that there was just too much work to make it fully functional and not enough time (even though people were borrowed from other teams to help out with it).

What about the neocom that got scrapped due to people not being able to accept change?
