Will turrets ever see the same love that (rapid fire) missiles got?

To be honest though, I think this would create horrible balance problems. I have in the past suggested that bigger ships just get bonuses right down the stack (like the guristas ships do for missiles) but folks had concerns even then. Adding something like that on steroids would be very nasty.

My gut feel thinks something like this might work well only on the BC hulls - give them something a bit unique to get them into service a little more. They're lacking in the current meta quite badly because of the increased cruiser speed and power, they need to reassert themselves on the food chain and this might be a good way to do it.


When the easiest way to balance an idea well is going to cause horrible balance problems maybe its not a good idea?

how about the weapons themselves take consistent heat damage.

How much heat how much HP do the hulls get bonuses to heat damage do they only get bonuses to heat on rapid weapons


does that bonus carry over to actually overheating them? can you even overheat them or are they just in a perama overheat?

would T3s get bonuses to these that also stack on there regular heat bonuses? can they burn out like this or will they stop to be repaired at 99%?

the smallest medium turrets are already like small turrets, just look at a SFI with AB fit, you can AB at full speed with a 2.5k orbit and still hit pretty decent on a scrammed frigate with dual 180mm ACs and one TE, and you will hit pefectly on a scrammed cruiser with those. (assuming you didn't use Hail M)

Ofc, thats Autocannons, the laser tracking isnt as good, but thats why it's lasers, no relaod time, better optimal range and such. The turrets are currently ok, pls dont break them.

If you want to be annyoing to small stuff, every missile/drone boat is doing a damn well job.
Use a gila, really annyoing drones + really annoying missiles

I like the IDEA primarily because it would create choice and add less certainty to engagements. The implementation is the hard part. It may not be possible without too much radical change, however.

Just need to avoid making a certain size class a one-ship-fits-all-wtfpwnmobile (Hi thar Hyperion!), which is why I originally suggested a mod to add the required drawbacks.

Medium rapid turrets for battleships could be a neat way to make them more relevant. Small rapid turrets for cruisers I am less inclined to support.
