My opinion is that ships are only worth what people are willing to pay for them. If somebody is willing to pay 150 bil ISK for a ship, with ISK they either spent hours and hours of time gathering, or spent real money purchasing via PLEX, that's their business. If nobody who plays EVE wants to purchase those ships, making their value zero, that's fine IMO too.

Well... put aside all that stuff about how those price is or is not actually owned by winner, how its cost is only reflection of market and any other game related stuff as it is ingame price, not actual money... 97500 euro pricepool for major tournament held once a year? To me (who sometimes watch for example Starcraft or LoL leagues) it seems completely OK.

Well I personally lurves it when the Tourney eventually comes round, good telly is good tellly yeah.
Just for the hours I have enjoyed viewing, whilst minimal to those that have actually prepared to provide the spectacle, it is imho time well spent.

Would really like to see how many teams would actually show up, and in what ships, if NO PRIZES were offered.

All macho bullshit and epeen posturing aside, it would be alot fewer.
