No, shooting at someone in a space ship game that gives you guns and spaceship is not a mental disorder. Also not adhering to your individual values about what is and isn't worth it is not a mental disorder.

This is nothing more than a stealth "pvprs should only be allowed to shoot at people who want pvp and can shoot back, or if there is some kind of profit involved" thread. For the last few months that inane idea (the idea that YOU get a say about why others do things in a video game) has been making the rounds of high sec posters and bloggers.

Fact is, people do what they do because they want to for some reason. Your job is to stop worrying about why people do things and start worrying about protecting yourself against such people regardless of their motivation.

Gate/Station guns will kill a Gank Nado before Concord gets there, if no one else shot at him then there will be no kill mail.

That being said, it looks like he has not ganked for quite a while. But he has been shooting criminals recently. The badger may be a ganker's scooper and he shot it just to **** him off. Or he could have just pulled the trigger too early before the loot was scooped. Or the badger could have been suspect via killright or previous looting and he shot a legal target.

Or as mentioned it could have been a gank attempt and just clicked the wrong target.

I have shot haulers before that were not the actual target but they were being used as bait so that I can lure a thief that has been annoying me into scooping the loot and then an alt will kill the thief. Not saying this happened in this case but mentioned it as there may be a lot more to the story than just the kill mail you see.

It could also be as simple as the killer had a personal vendetta with the victim.

This is a video game sold as a sandbox, so the reality is he could have done it just for the sake of doing it. 100 mil gank nado is chump change to some people, having fun is priceless.

For the lols, the tears. There is no explanation other than illogical mental disorder that seeks to inflict pain on others for enjoyment. Before games such as EvE they would have started out doing this to animals. See: Jeffrey Dahmer.

At least they have a virtual environment to act out in where their actions really have no effect on reality.

Uh. Daumer didn't drill a hole in his own head, then pound his victim's fingers with a hammer. This is clearly a case of someone thought they knew what they were doing, but obviously didn't. Probably a CODE member following orders from its able leadership. Yeah. That makes sense.

Noting mental abut it when you realize some things

1) This is a game
2) Wealth and value is relative
3) No player here needs to justify anything,
4) There is no real "right" way to do anything
5) Do not assume you know what the other player was tying to do in the grand scheme of things.
6) Mistakes happen, sometime by the player, sometimes by the drinking, sometime by the computer glitch
7) Wen you are space-rich, you are willing to risk a bling ship on a turd just for giggles

Some thoughts for the OP:

1. Pilots may have been paid a private bounty for the kill.
2. Pilots might be paid by the number of scalps they return to the mother hive with.
3. Pilots probably have neutral alts waiting to scoop both wrecks.
4. Pilots may be experimenting with fits.
5. Pilots may be experimenting with concord responses.
6. Pilots may be experimenting with gate gun tanking.
7. There may be some accidental element involved.

Seems like a decent dude having some fun in the game. And it looks like he more than made up for any losses with billions of isk worth of loot dropping from the other hauler he popped today
