For a political geography class - nothing major just 10 pages (so still somewhat significant)

I was wondering if we had any eve players who actually lived in Northern Ireland between the 60's and 90's and had any interesting tales to tell.

Carry on.
Edit: as this is not a verifiable "source" I will not nor could not use your story for the paper, but it does help me get a frame of reference.

Never been to ireland, but I'm english and grew up in the 80s and 90s, so it affected me.

The IRA nearly killed me through causality, by way of a bomb in the shop my mother worked in in the 70s. There's no bins in stations, or ANYWHERE in London until very recently.

I went on vacation with my family to Ireland about 12 years ago. I was only 14 at the time, so I don't remember too much. We spent 3 weeks in Southern Ireland and a few days in Northern Ireland. One part that I do remember was crossing the boarder meant being inspected by a squad of disgruntled looking guys holding AK-47s dressed up in BDUs.

Another bit that I remember was that all throughout Southern Ireland, people welcomed us with, "Hello, tourists! We love having you here because you give us money and we like being friendly! Please, come stay at our little bed and breakfast." People in Northern Ireland seemed to be more of the, "wtf are you doing here. Get out of my way, I'm busy," attitude.

Edit: I think it was actually more like 14 years ago. I don't remember exactly.
