I know almost nothing about Linux. I also don't know much about computers.

I want to install Linux on my Mac in the hope that EVE will actually run.

I've never bootcamped my Mac, but it doesn't look too difficult.

What programs do I actually need to download once I have bootcamped my Mac? Linux and Wine and then the EVE client?

What version of Linux and Wine do I use? Where can I get them from a trustworthy source?

Are there any tips that I need to know to get EVE to work on Linux on my Mac?

I really enjoy playing EVE. But the Mac client has given me so much trouble that I am at the end of my rope. I'll have to quit the game if I can't find a way around using the Mac client.

Thanks for your help,
Hep

i think you should have no problems compiling wine on your Mac and run Eve on Mac under wine.

Do I want Ubuntu packages, or one of the others?

I also got this message when I tried to download Ubuntu 1.3.33

"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (apt) isn't associated with any program."

Thanks,

Wine on Mac check that first.

If you still wanted to go the bootcamp with Linux way, then first bootcamp and install a linux (most likely Ubuntu) then check other post about installing eve on linux through wine
