Almost exactly the same happens to me when I am drunk. Just saying.

Je suis Paris // Köln // Brüssel // Orlando // Nice // Würzburg, München, Ansbach // Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray

Je suis Berlin // Fort Lauderdale // London // St. Petersburg // Stockholm

You're better than any I've met, and I've met a fair number. If you're not in the USA, that might help explain it. But the doctors I meet...it's just sad what passes these days for medical expertise. I'm far from being an expert so I shouldn't so commonly know more than these professionals do about their own line of work.

Forgive the aside, but you mean the Affordable Health Care Act neither provides you with health care, nor makes it affordable? I'm shocked, shocked I say!

Seriously, though, medicaid or VA won't let you see a doc for these symptoms?

Supposedly I can get the coverage, but they sure don't make it easy! I have to run back and forth, trying to correlate unclear data from their lousy internet site with the very different things they tell me in person, and try to work out some composite that might get me signed up when I go there, rather than just turned away because I didn't do all of the things they wanted before showing up. The last time I went to sign up for Apple Care they had to access my account because I already have one, but were unable to access it because I don't remember my password, they can't provide me the password criteria, and they couldn't permit me to log into my email to fix it. They supposedly sent me an email to reset the account, but I did not receive that email, nor after I called them to have it sent again, and I do not remember the website where I created the account, nor was I able to find it again in a Google search.

As for the Army Reserve, well everyone I talk to has a different story on medical care, most of them really have no idea who I should talk to. Apparently most of them aren't getting any regular medical care and aren't even aware they should have access to it. There is a big poster in the walls at my unit declaring free dental care for everyone, but I can't find anyone who knows how to get it, and most of them are dumbfounded that the opportunity even exists. Apparently they don't read the numerous posters pinned all over the walls. So I go to the hospital on base and:
1.) the dental unit doesn't work with reserves
2.) they can't tell me who does
3.) front desk doesn't know who works with reserves

So I probably can get free medical care but I've been trying to track it down for years now without success.

I used to have three-dimensional balance, that was ready and eager to jump in all possible directions. Many enjoyable hours in a karate dojo made me realize that that that was what this particular body and neuro package excelled at. But :: depressing but true info here:: , all that was lost in an instant. Turning a corner in an office building between the coffee pot break room and back to my cube. I suddenly lost my balance and felt like I was going to stumble. Since then, I feel top-heavy, like my feet are far way. No more balance.

Was after about 20 days of being a new hire, who started with 30 cases. Then a new client came in, caseload went to 70, most in midstream with deadlines coming up. All shore leave cancelled, 12-hour days, 6 days per week. The work you left behind today, you scrambled back the next morning to try to take care of, but usually a new pile of stuff came in and interrupted. Profits were great for the partners, but it was hell on people's health.

Life in the modern, rich corner of the world has some great points. But at the same time, it has some pretty suck points too.. You and only you are responsible for watching out for your own health well-being. Some of us didn't know that early on Smile

Well Reaver, I guess your only option now to get your ear checked is to immigrate to Cuba.

Oh..thank you very much.
While without doubt some general practitioners are better than others, your assessment that they would send you to have an MRI done and charge you mad bucks for it without gaining any significant insight, is most likely correct.

Blame society for that.

With a thorough examination, anamnesis and a little experience, you could often find the correct diagnosis with about 95% accuracy.
The problem is the remaining 5%, because those can get you sued for a fantastillion of dollars. That's why so many doctors play it safe nowadays and arrange ridiculously expensive tests- not for the patients, but for the lawyers.
In my humble opinion the problem nowadays is not that the health sector is under-funded; the problem is that so much of the money that would be needed for actual medical treatments and examinations is spent on rather unnecessary stuff to avoid lawsuits.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

After reading the thread title, I knew it was you, attempting to self diagnose again. See a doc. The scary truth about medicine is it's not an exact practice. There are algorithms that guide medical practitioners, but there is still testing that needs to happen through prescriptions and treatments. Basically, your response to treatment is part of the confirmation of a diagnosis, and you don't have access to that without an MD. (see a doc)

i had zero issues issues with the affordable care act when i needed it. i am not sure how a lot of people experience problems. it was fast. it was simple.

...and...even though i regained my hours lost at work when the facility was having financial difficulties and have also regained my insurance through my job...that fact hasn't caught up to the state apparently because any clinic appointments i make are still $10 copays and any prescriptions that get tossed at me are $1.

i'm not in a hurry to correct this mistake on their part. perhaps it isn't a mistake. i don't know or care.
