Why stop there.

Why not make a new kind of bomb, but instead of being able to rename it, IT RENAMES SHIPS IT HITS and randomly broadcasts chaotic information in their fleet broadcasts

Basically it would turn a neatly organized fleet into a bunch of gibberish, plus half the ships would suddenly broadcast for cap, armor, etc. involuntarily.

Just put a test alliance member in fleet :D

Lol, I like that. I imagine watching the Overview and suddenly see:

Distance-----Name---------------Type
10 km---------Your butt here----Sharpnel Bomb

crazy and novel idea, I like it.

... though I think it will be effort to realize because there is no game mechanic yet afaik, to name things in your hangar before launching to grid.

I'm my own NPC alt.

I imagine the database side of it would be an issue.
You can't name it at launch since it will blow by the time you finish typing and hit OK.
If you rename it in the cargo hold, the whole bomb launcher mechanic has to be altered so that it will accept "burn with love" as a Scorch Bomb.
Could you name a stack? The UI will have to be altered so it distinguishes based on the new name.
Now they did this, I would like to name my missiles. Then it will have to name auto-cannon ammo.

There are the aesthetic fact:
How many people will look and notice the name before detonation?

I would rather have the ship name appear on the killboard, but if this were added, they should add the ammo name on the final blow to the kill board.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.
