Theories

1- Still reeling from the jump nerfs

2- All the kids are back in Uni

3- A large scale battle is crap if it hasn't got titans and now the titan is crap and there really only for appearances

4- a tendency of wielding cheap ships this is occurring in highsec

5- care bears are no longer even interested in null or wh space and this space going silent

summery

we didn't treat our noobs well and now we have a power vacuum and we are drawing far to many accountant who are not interested in big war unless they profit

But but, the jump drive nerfs were supposed to create conflict by letting the 'little guy" have a chance because he doesn't have to worry about bad guys 'teleporting' on top of them. Too bad it wasn't 'teleporting' that was stopping the 'little guys' but rather a lack of will and lack of interest in taking space that you could upgrade to (gasp) provide a lower income per pilot than high or low sec...

CCP nerfs player groups ability to clash with each other, then seems surprised when player groups clash with each other less lol.

Hmm.... Maybe the little guys haven't fully noticed? Or really thought all of the implications through, as yet. And the big guys are pretty quiet too.

The little guy still doesn't stand a hope in hell of taking anything let alone holding it.

I've noticed Jita has significantly lower population than any time in the last few years.

I was inactive since last July, and I don't know whether or not CCP banned a bunch of spamming bots or something in the meantime that accounts for the drop, but 1100-1200 this time of day seems really low, relatively speaking.

Just got back from a 2 month hiatus and seems like a lot of the alliances are pretty quiet. Non of the usual poo-flinging-war-drumming going on and the fleet pings for strat-ops are mild. Did the fatigue timers bleed into real life or is there some seasonal thing going on making all the spaces more quiet that usual?

Two reasons really: The first is that pheobe has entrenched alliances, giving them far greater defensive power than anyone can beat and not leave there own backyard open to attack. Secondly nullsec is pretty boring at the moment. The current ship meta is Ishtars, bombers and Tengus which has worn pretty thin for most people who usually fill out fleets.

Space is useless, its the structures and resources that are usefull.

My uninformed guess is they are not going to start anymore wars until something is done about Sov.

Exacly.
Jump drive changes removed the slowcat fleet on every possible timer anywhere.
But as sov is not touched - you can still easily deploy enough forces to make any "unwanted" sov grab impossible - simply because all timers on system station takes around a week , and you can place them in your best hours while enemy have to put alarm clock at 3AM.

To simplify.
You spend 1 week to finally grind a system to a final timer , no one comes , you leve 10 oracles on the station/ihub afk for many hours.

But on the final timer 500 people arrives, they pump out the system , and leave for a week.

Sov announcements are most likely going to be made during Fanfest, at which point I expect null sec to light up light a Christmas tree. Until then everyone is saving their money and energy, building up their fleets and preparing for round two of null sec musical chairs.

round two?

Where have you been! I've been retired 5 years or more and it was already round 3,000 then!

in addition ship sales are way down, on top of which prices are bouncing around all over the place (probably due to the last of them stupid 'teams' and also people suddenly realising it take several million just to buy the factory time per battleship now, instead of the half a mill before. No wonder there's been BS price inflation, even on top of the Material changes (which seem stopid to me as well)

Sorry ... got distracted a tad there Big smile

I was meaning, by inference, that there's generally less activity (aka the rate of people needing to buy ships has deccreased notably, while (where I am at least) not much change in any other observable actiovity).

The little guys have not noticed, because despite bitching on the forums about "what they heard" about nullsec, they never took part in the activities being changed.

Lots of "I would participate if" - If what... you only knew WTF you were talking about? Doubt it, you still need the b@lls to do it.

To answer OP's question. Those who DO have been replaced with those who SAY, of course it is stale.
