Back after 2 years, anything drastic changed for lvl 4 golem fits ?

Or have a cap stable fit (you're going to need a deadspace shield booster if you're in a Golem or Vargur to accomplish that), and turn on local repper just before entering bastion. This way even if you DC your ships keeps on tanking.
And I don't understand the need for rigors on a Golem. Why not just use drones to kill the frigs while you're shooting bigger stuff with your missiles? With two bonused target painters, shouldn't a cruise missile Golem be able to hit cruisers and anything above just fine?

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

a pithum c-type med booster is quite cheap, ~43m in jita right now. perfect for a golem/vargur.

and rigors are for pretty much everything when using fury missiles. need to look at the damage formula for more detail. even with rigors I wouldn't shoot frigs unless they were the last ships alive.

Luscius Uta, Chainsaw has this correct here.
By using the riggors you can use the Fury cruise and better apply your damage to everything in the pocket including the BS because of the way missile damage is calculated. I fly a lot with my son and his torp fit Golem and even though he has a paper advantage 1150 dps vs my 925 dps I can still kill everything in a pocket except the BS faster than he can and the riggors are key to this.
Yes I do suffer against the BS, it routinely takes me 1 or 2 extra vollies per BS but I am willing to give that up to 1 volley virtually everything else in the pockets.

And yes as an all level 5 skills drones pilot they do play an important role, as does a sentry drone to help with the larger ships like the BC and BS.

my fit.. tried to keep it cheapish. Cap stable. needed the faction mwd to be cap stable when it is not used. T2 leaks too much cap. With some cap implants you could probably drop the second cap recharger.. but this is what I used..
