Childish things like what? Is art childish? Are emojis more "childish" than a multitude of other behaviors that happen every day in New Eden?

Most of the contemporary art world is extremely childish,
but then art has nothing to do with it,
this is in the top "5 redundant thread topics".

And emoji and emcons/whatevergraphicdesignersaredoingtokeepthemselvesfedthesedays are functionality identical.

Wouldn't you agree that art is pretty subjective? Are you the sole art connoisseur?

The fact that you try to say emoji are the same as anything else shows me that you don't actually know what you're talking about. Please keep your comments to yourself since they aren't relevant to this topic.

You can turn them off in your texts. We can do the same thing in New Eden. Tick a box otherwise you can't see them. That way old farts like you won't be bothered by emerging technology while the rest of the world can opt in

Standard ASCII-based emoticons are not nearly kawaii enough to express myself.

emojis are used by any useful device in the year 2015. It's time we brought the Eve client up to date

I think this idea would allow for a much greater variety of emotions to be expressed both on the forums and in game. Anyone against this probably hasn't considered the full potential.

If you cannot structure your thoughts into a proper sentence, no amount of images is going to help you to convey your feelings.

Straight
Art is yes and still has nothing to do with this,
we are discussing communication here.

If you want to communicate with the rest of eve, type the ****ing words or find a gif.
I didn't say it was the same I said it was functionality the same and no amount of OopsArrowArrow<------this crap would have made that any clearer to you so no, I'd rather not have more noise in the chat boxes.

I'm not bothered by emerging technology. I'm bothered by the slow and painful death of the written word by the 1,000 papercuts of "I'm too damned lazy to type another couple of letters."

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

The eve client is not a device. It's an application, which is executed on a device.

Since this is so important to you, I think I can safely assume the device you run Eve on can support Emojis, so your work here is done.

what would this accomplish that simple ascii doesn't?

There are few enough places where chat boxes are limited. I'd just as soon keep Eve as one of them.

I oppose emijis in Eve. The abuse by scammers to make their local spam even more obnoxious would far outweigh any potential benefit. But there have been times when I wished for slash commands to augment the regular written word.
