You will find, for personal use, artistic rendering of logos is quite permissable. After what Andy Warhol did to the Campbell's soup can? The dam broke, if there ever was one. Where people get miffed is if you put their logo on stuff you made making it look like they either made it or endorse it. This is piggy-backing someone else's reputation on your product, so that's a huge no-no without prior permission - generally held by liscensing agreements.

Ask an artist. Never ask a lawyer.

PS The most active corporation in hunting down and prosecuting copyrighted material violations is....

...DISNEY! (yay)
