Sharing Overview settings.

Whilst doing the tutorials I noticed my overview didn't always show the things I needed to see. I asked in the help channel and was advised to change my overview settings. After looking at all the different settings available I thought it might be a better idea to get the basic of the tutorials down before messing around with the more complex stuff.

Then I saw the share button and now I was wondering if there are any good overviews out there to share, or maybe one of you experienced players that has a good overview already setup would be kind enough to share it with me.

New Citizen Q&A Resources

Look for Louis deGuerre's overview pack for a start.

Other options include the Eve Uni overview pack or the overview pack from Feyd's new player primer series:

Thanks for the links.

I can't download Louis' overview pack for some reason.

Is that the only way to share overviews, through external downloads?

The share button suggests it should be done ingame?

Dev Blog on Overview Sharing in-game

I haven't done it myself since I've been running an overview setup from wayyyy-back, but this is the most info I've found on the newer feature to share it in-game.

Here is another very good guide on the Overview. This one walks you through how to set up your own presets.

http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Overview_Guide

You can share Overview profiles in-game. From that "Share" button you simply click and drag that to any text box, such as a chat channel window, and it will provide the profile. It will only share those presets that are currently loaded, plus the global settings such as those for Appearance (colortags and backrounds), into the Overview tabs at the time the share link is created so if there are more presets someone wants to share then using the Export/Import Overview feature would be the way to go.

You're welcome to use mine if you like. It's based on the write-up on the Eve Uni wiki above: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i7mf0to1h29fpwr/DMC.1-12.2014.yaml?dl=0

Just download that and then place it into your Eve Overview folder. If you're on a PC then that should be "Documents / Eve / Overview" and if that folder doesn't exist yet you can just create it. Exporting your Overview profile from in-game will also create that folder. Once you have it in your Overview folder on your computer just Import it in-game from your Overview Settings "Misc" tab. Be sure to check for all the presets or you'll only get some of the profile. You'll also may want to reset your Overview settings (you can export what you have if you want to keep it) to ensure you get a clean import. And you will always have the default Overview profiles that you start the game with.

Another popular profile is the SaraShawa profile. If you go to the chat channel in-game "SaraShawa-Overview" you can get the in-game links and instructions for that one. If you take the out-of game link they provide you copy/paste that URL into your browser and then select "Save as" on the web page and it will offer the YAML option to save the information.

Or, you can use the download as per mine above: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bap70nzb1zx1n74/SaraShawa%20Overview%20Pack%20v7.1.yaml?dl=0

Once you have an Overview you like then you can create more or delete presets, and modify it for your own needs. Be sure to check the game updates to see if they've added any new entities and/or types.

To share an overview with a fleet member one drags the "share" button to the chat window and hits enter. Then the fleet member clicks on the link to receive the settings.

Don't forget to unfuck your overviews by arranging the rows/colors/bg/flashy colors correctly so you don't accidentally your bros.

PS: compliments of Sarah.
