It struck me its not possible to join the Sansha Nation, which i would love to be sometimes :D

So why not givwe players the possibility to join Sansha, Angel or Gurista. As bonus, you will be seen to other players as a red rat when entering a system. You can fight along With rats, get them to help you attack players. Also, sec standing will not deterioate, but will be Automatic set to -5 as fast you join the selected rat empire and anyone can attack you since you lare flagged as a rat. :D
When Your standing to the selected rat empire grows, you get discount on New ships and Equipment thats made by the selected emipre.

and by being a "friend" of the pirate factions would mean you would be shot on sight by every-single-thing that can fly in hisec.

exactly, thats the flipside of having ala carte in the all you can eat HiSec... but again, u can also do the same shite in low and null sec. It will be a little suprice for mission runners when there is suddenly a player controlled rat.

addition: it also gives you possibility to hide amoung rats ;) Concord dont attack rats... not as far ive seen :/

no to looking like a rat

despite how broken that is and that it makes no sense lore wise we don't need to confuse new players further

I agree with this.

I would love to see "Pirate Faction Warfare" (an idea that has been proposed many times before). The option to not have rats shoot at you while sitting inside a complex could be pretty cool. Of course that would have to come at some cost, like being unable to shoot your faction's rats, mine in their space, or hack cans or any other PVE activity.

And this is absolutely something that should not be allowed in high sec.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

So basically.... Make a rat character, grind some standings, you now get super cheap pirate ships that all your characters get to then use.
How about no?

This idea has come up several times. The best implementation I can think of is a harder and more lucrative fw, which sucks as an idea as it is a rehash of known mechanics that are easy to farm. Solid -1 from me on this.

Talking more,

Flying crazier,

And drinking more

Making battleships worth the warp

pirate fw sounds fun.

EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided"

I do see why some of you dissagre, but let the players decide themselves if they want to join the "evil" side. CCP never seem to punish Gankers, so Logic dictates that joining the Rats should be possible, tho it comes With negativ effect to the player.

Well some of my chars have +9 standing to pirate factions and -9 to higsec factions.
There should be possibility to say :
I renounce my young player status

This don't have to be cheaper ships.
NPC rats don't shoot you - you cannot shoot them.

Thats all.

One thing Pirate factions should have, is own sets of skillbooks, but you cant buy them, you have to earn them.... and you wont get the bokk, it will be automatically injected by pirate faction when you Reach a certain standing to them. Ergomarkedspecualtion in these books wont be a problem and more People will settle in pirate faction Territory just to earn those skills.

Only if I as a player get to decide if I want to fight rats controlled by players or an AI..
Alternatively the player controlled rats could be limited to specific solar system so those who run missions/anoms etc would have the choice to go there or not.

It is not the idea of player controlled rats per say that I am against, it is the thought/fact that the players on the other side would have no idea and have no choice in fighting against a player controlled or AI controlled rat.

I see Your point about the the others wont know, but again, miners never know its gankers until its too late.

to add abit.... CCP has made AI rats, why aint there AI good guys that driver around, mine, trade, ect? Where is the AI population?

PS. im still waiting on walkin stations....

NPC are easy to spot when they have those lovely little red crosses next to their names in the overview.
Possible gankers are easy to spot as well, they do not have the little red crosses next to their name.
And who says it is only miners that need to be alert for a possible gank?

What is your suggestion on marking these player controlled rats in the overview?
If you do not think they need to be marked in some way then refer back to my posts about players having a choice to fight these player controlled rats, or only the AI rats.

You would have to ask CCP why there are no Al good guys. I could spend several pages speculating why, but I will leave it at this. They do not want AI good guys competing in the markets, belts anoms etc.

Walking in stations may be awhile, or it may be never so I suggest that you do not hold your breath while you wait Big smile

okay there is it. you hite in 10/10 sansha site , someones doing the site and you hide with other rats, you can make alot of traps but yeah my idea is way different

joining pirate faction would be part of faction warfare

so joining sansha nation / bood raiders / guristas / serpentis / angels / rogue drones will have the penalties

disadvantages
you can be attacked in highsec without consequences because you are pirate
you lose faction standings instead of security status . do plan attacks wisely.
you cant attack own nation you get kicked off the nation for 7 days for doing so
you r brackets wil be like normal ship bracket with pirate bracket but color will be either red or green

advantages

no concord for attacking players of other pirate nations, attacking amarr/caldari/mimmatar/gallente still gives concord
+5% loyality points +5% standings and +5 isk gainby running missions for pirate faction
10% cheaper pirate faction ships for your pirate faction
limited control on pirate faction ships in asterid belts , sush warping them somewhere and engage players using rats instead of blooding your hands
can use violent wormholes in thera system and shattered wormholes to jump into random wormhole system [sanha only]

NO.

And if, they shouldnt be in Hi sec at all. They cant attack anyone cuz of concord anyway(and it should be concorded, because otherwise, you just asking for permison to kill miners freely in greatly fited pirate ships) so they have no targets there.
Also they shouldnt be able jump thru gates in Hi sec, because....come on, you cant jump thru gates with just drugs, but heavy armed pirate ships can?no...also I never saw rats in hi on gates.

But in Low or null?rat what you want.
