Capsule varieties

I suggest adding a few different types of capsule to the game, and allowing players to select the capsule that best suits their playstyle. Here are some possible varieties:

The Agility Capsule:
This is the currently existing capsule. It has low max speed but extremely high agility. Its strength is in its ability to retreat before anyone can lock target on it, while its weakness is easily being trapped in warp disruption bubbles.

The Speed Capsule:
This capsule would align slower, more like a cruiser perhaps, but would have a high max velocity, even higher than a shuttle. Its strengths would be both in ability to get out of warp disruption bubbles and in being difficult to hit while it is on the move, and its weakness would be that it is much easier to target before it has a chance to enter warp.

The Warp Capsule:
This capsule would have low agility and low speed, but would have a high warp speed, even higher than a frigate or shuttle. Its strength would be in maintaining the ability to retreat quickly over long distances once the player's ship was destroyed, while its weakness would be that it is easy to catch once anyone manages to catch up to it.

All three of these designs have one attribute superior to a shuttle and the other two inferior.

All free choices. You just select the capsule you want while in station, and that's what you're flying when your ship blows up.

feared it would be purely cosmetic, happy to be wrong. choice is indeed good

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.

Yes, not sure about cruiser align time, but yes.

Interesting idea but I don't see the purpose of any capsule choice other than the current "default" in your example.

As it stands now - if you're not bubbled you have a better than decent chance to get into warp and away in your pod before being locked. Exceptions to this are lag scenarios or being in range of re'sebo'd Stilettos in London (LPB yo!!!).

Other that that - if you're bubbled in a pod you're going to die (get podded) unless the attackers aren't killing pods for either tactical reasons to delay a reship (common in 00 fights forcing pods to SD and wait 2 minutes before possibly getting back to the fight / or in wspace where we might no kill pods in the hopes that you DO reship and continue the fight).

You're proposal - while novel in the sense of giving pods something meaningful other than appearance - won't really do anything to alter the current status of killing pods.

Option 1
bubbled? podded
not bubbled? better than 50/50 chance of escape

Option 2
bubbled and aligns like a cruiser? podded
not bubbled and aligns like a cruiser? 50/50 or worse chance of escape

Option 3
bubbled? see option 1
not bubbled and low agility and low speed? see option 2

I'm right behind you
