I am working on an evaluation program to find the best opportunities for Items, Distances, Routes, and Values...

Due to the technical nature of the project, most of it will be dealt with outside the forums.

EVE Communication Center » EVE General Discussion
- That thread will be about the request for quotes and offers to hire programmer / encode to complete the program.
I also plan to design program to use ingame currency.

EVE Technology and Research Center » Features & Ideas Discussion
- This here thread.

EVE Technology and Research Center » EVE Technology Lab
- That thread will be about the API code related data itself, the tool itself.

Samples:
Pseudocode

Structure charts

Program flowcharts

Display model

etc...

I think I speak for all of us when I say that although your idea will strictly be implemented out of game and you've asked nothing of us, you can expect our wholehearted bitterness and cynicism through every stage of your project.

What is the purpose of this thread exactly?

op you may want to flesh this out a bit. Its kind of reaching even for an idea post. Sounds more like a soundboard thread and you are lacking even a semi-solid plan.

What language(s) are you looking at?
What framewokrs will be used?
How will the data be presented (local client, web presentation or a mish mash?
What OS will this run on.

Kind of need these upfront. I could say R can do all this for you. Throw in a shiny server or app (literally the name shiny is used for the server and the apps presented) for presentation for the web in a easier fashion. Now like many you might be googling wtf is R and am I pulling your leg about shiny (go ahead....I won't blame you, see you when you come back lol). Why you want what you want language wise upfront. Ask 100 programmers to code you something and you will get several answers based on their language faves. I am sure you would even get cobol devs (they are still around) chiming in saying I got something for you.

Also might want to say what the development setup on backend is looking like/will look like. Springing for M$ licensing (Server OS and SQL server) or will this be more open source and calling for say mysql vets possibly on a linux bistro running a LAMP web server.

bring up db's as what you are looking at would be advisable to use them. Being generous I will have your app take off like mad. I don't see CCP having 20000 users run hardcore webscraping against the raw db happening for very long. Any leeway granted in crest beta testing now is granted imo as they know its not 20000 people giving crest a go at the moment. It be more hardcore devs who know with the power of web scraping comes some responsibility. Put another way your IP shows up as killing the db with extraneous and large access requests they will cut you off for starters.

I am seeing controlled pulls by your own setup that then provide snapshots to your users when done off the bat here the take away.

Also hate to nitpick but a good starter would be firing up an online repo service get this a page and present this a better way. Even an intro markdown file would be nice. I'd say github but that has been force fed to me and haven't tried others. This repo is where your dev(s) will fork and collaborate, it be a nice to starter to have that first.

i recognise the op's posting.

you need to present a Feature &/or Idea in the op of this thread or it will be locked.

for constructive discussion take it to EVE Technology Lab.

If you're working on a trading tool I might be interested. But I would like to hear more details before I think about supporting it.

Also, eve technology lab might be the best place to discuss this. That thread is more aligned with what you may be looking for from forums.

He eve mailed me to say his OP was a solicitation for programmers. To the contrary the OP stated he would make a GD post for that. He also said that I was being hateful. I didn't mean it to come across that way OP. Sorry.

Would you please post information in this thread that you created for the discussion of this topic instead of a private eve mail? This Easter egg hunt is not so tremendously fun.

Ah, I was posting a quick reply and my time got shut off...
I'm right in the middle of other business and I don't have the time to post the other 40 pages yet.
It'd cost $40 to scan them + change.

Other than that, I'll add that Time is also a factor as is Security, which I'll attempt to integrate.

I'm not restricting the discussion of ideas in this thread, whether it is linked to external links or included in here.

I really have little time to explain more at this time without incurring unacceptable (and worthless) losses.
I hope I will have more time next week.

For Features and Ideas Only (and/or mostly):

So, this would be a good thread and forum to get feedback on the requirements for making such a program, and test it.

2.
I want to limit the resources it uses, that can be another feature although not the informative goal of the program.

3.
The Time and Security parameter of the system are added as extra Feature to improve accuracy of the Evaluations.

4.
Right now, I am still doing everything offline with no running program codes at all, except for designs and analysis.
It obviously has to do with Perception. (As one pilot's perception differs from others, and so on...)
It has to do with the Perception of the Values of those factors above.
It can be used as a test to compare actions, and decide which actions are best to take.

(I am off schedule by over 2 weeks already as I am too busy with other obligations.)

I would actually like feedback on what such system or program would be able to bring to EVE.
I am willing to adjust it so that it can function better and be more efficient.

I don't plan to have this run within EVE itself, although that I am aware that if it would the case, it may require other agreements.

It is also possible there already exist similar Evaluation systems in EVE which I don't know about (yet).

I'll leave it at that for now, but I am very busy with other things in the meantime.

As for the Features & / or Ideas of the project(s)...:
- These are all related to using data from data input to generate or process information about:
- Values of 1.Items, 2.Locations, 3.Routes and ... 4.Values themselves.

The value of Values phase is more intricate in that it will allow to modify those system to adjust according to one's needs.
Nonetheless, there were more than 2 other parameters added to those above.

Time was important in the sense that the longer a calculation would take, even with a computer, measured in nanoseconds, the less value it would have. (Despite cargo worth billions.)

Security was important as Wardec data or null-sec player controlled zones or pirates in low-sec would prove more complicated and perhaps less worthy.
Of course the potential is higher but the feasibility factor might be diminished if the pilot or group of pilot cannot overcome the conditions risk factor.

Either ways, there would be many features to implement, and I would have to keep them offline, meaning out of the EVE Online client.

I don't know of the constraint of the system or any other problems that would arise in the meantime from developing and working on something like this.
However, I won't and don't do this alone. I would keep responsibility for reporting to the proper authorities should any problems requiring to be addressed arises (or for security reasons).

Project Scope
I am continuing to work on this project since before October 2014 and I'm designing IP (Intellectual Property) tools as well.

I vividly remember this being at the issue when I originally invested funds into the study of this 22 years ago already.

Evaluation Patterns
The evaluation itself relates to the funds invested into the study and practical aspect of the system.
Evaluations can also be applied as a goal to the program tool for EVE if and when done properly.

Opportunities
I did have better opportunities with the Character Bazaar (found in the forum) which I am integrating in the program.
Additionally, I plan to integrate loans schemes and collateral contracts sales in the Sell Orders of the EVE Marketplace forum.

Goals and Objectives
My main concern in this threads are the goals themselves.
We can discuss some of the objectives as well...

I will and want to try to leave the more technical aspect of the system(s) in the EVE Technology Lab subforum.

Problem Solving Tools
I've saved tools for problem solving which I will try to apply towards the completion of the program and design.
I plan to update it, and I'm trying to keep some development non-disclosed...

(I'm also working on securing IP rigths in regards to the protection of some of the systems used for transferable skills.)

2 Added Parameters for Evaluation
The whole project may be changed to allow me to recover some of the losses I recently incurred.
The system was originally more aimed towards ingame play.
However, I find that there is less risk by using external aspect of the game.
One such aspect is the Character Bazaar trading as market activity.
Another such less risky aspect are lending schemes with collateral subcontracting.
This collateral subcontracting can in turn be completed before taking additional risks, to again lower risk, and increase stability (of income)..
Not financial security, but a small step in that direction.
Once I get the ingame ISK back in my control, I can then invest more into the other aspect of ingame play and PvP.

Work Load as opposed to Spreadsheet Worksheet
I did find a programmer btw, and may consort with him to decide if we will hire additional coders.

There is no planned schedule for completion, although some modules completion asap would be nice...
