something like that.

So long as they add exactly the same thing to sentry drones. You know, to prevent afk usage and bots. And stuff.

Maybe if you fail to reactive them, the drones self destruct.

What if the cloak never failed, but your sig rad slowly expanded from 0 (particle build up on ionised hull or some crap) to the point that after say an hour probes will start getting a signal, though not disclosing ship type just coming up as "em distortion" or whatever. These can at first only be scanned down by implanted top skill chaps but later as sig slowly goes up it becomes easier so that at 2hours basically any numpty with a probe can scan it.

You get a warpable signal and can warp there and decloak. Of course the ship will probably be moving so you would have to find the trajectory by running a second scan and go for the decloak.

Cycling the cloak off for 10 seconds (or whatever) resets it to normal. The cloaked sig growth has no effect on it when its decloaked.

It adds a little more work to getting them.

Because people like you do not want balance. Anyone with any sense, would argue against your poor and rather selfish regard of that.

If they ever decide to touch this topic, they won't do it without revamping all aspects of Intel, especially free Intel provided by starmap and API data. Otherwise it's always going to remain a binary system with no room for lack of Intel or possible bad Intel.

i think the problem is the thread title the problem is not afk cloaking

its that cloaking makes someone 100% Safe and pls pls dont give me that bullshit in what way does a cloaking party interact with me **** every time someone is cloaky in my system i want to blow him or her up and cant do it until he trys something

and thats while collecting intel on us so thats my last post for now

And yet the issue remains on how do you even know an AFK cloaker is there?

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Simply because it requires 3rd party Intel tools doesn't mean they still don't get that information.

being vocal about AFK cloaking doesn't mean the mechanic is broken. Not in the current state of the game, at least by my opinion.

Must... resist... quagmire...

Fine. WHs don't compain about AFK cloaking because they control their geography. They can close WHs, you can't close stargates in nullsec.

Thus, WHs =/= nullsec. Let's get that point in EARLY.

Nope, its because they have no idea the AFK cloaker is there.

In WHs
1) They don't know it's there
2) The cloaker can't have a Cyno to bridge in a blob (either via titan or BLOPs)
3) If the WH inhabitants are worried about someone in their system, they can roll all the holes, and any existing cloaky is not impotent.

Thus, WHs are not comparable to nullsec. Roll

Yes but it's not local that gives that information, you have to take that pilot's name to EVEkill to find the rest of that out. This is EVE, and people are incredibly lazy and stupid. I'd be surprised if 1 in 100 ratters actually checks EVEkill to find out if a cloaker is a hotdropper or not.

At this point AFK cloaking is the only counter to the instant intel that is local.

Probably true, they would rather just come to the forums and complain about AFK cloakers.
Also just forget about bringing friends and doing things together so that they can actually have some ability to fight back.

To a certain extend. It still takes effort to moderate this thread and redirect any redundant threads on the subject popping up to this one.
The reason this thread was started does however have something to do with our work, as reports to us on *new* (AFK-) cloaking threads have been a regular occurrence.
On top of that we get the complaint reports sent to us and CCP by the people whose threads on the subject we have closed, asking the question on were to discuss it then. Whether we find the subject worth a discussion or even holding merit is irrelevant, others do think so and continue to bring up the subject, so to a certain extend they do have a point.

So in short we judged it best to have one focal point, one open thread on the subject. And that, indeed, saves us work in the long run.
It also saves frustration by the people that do want to discuss this topic, which is equally as important.

Having said that, I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The Rules:
5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

27. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued to the off-topic poster.

Thread reopened.

Im sure many of us have asked for a sticky for afk cloaking as well.

Well we did have a pretty good thread. Someone trolled it till it was locked.

After reading five pages of comments, I have yet to see anything that hasn't already been posted repeatedly in every other afk-cloaking thread. As such, I will make my comment, then forget this thread exists.

As a primarily nullsec PvE pilot, my opinion is that there is no afk cloaking problem. There are many ways to deal with cloaky campers, all of which have been covered in prior threads.

Oh, oh, I know! *raises hand*

Pick me, pick me!
*Points at Mr Kaarous Aldurald.*

"Yes Kaarous, what is the answer please?"

It is local chat?

And, for extra credit, is it local chat in conjunction with the ability to set players blue and therefore immediately identify any and all potential threats via their lack of being blue?
A star, for you Sir. (Plus a space like)

Now isn't it a little odd that those asking for cloaking nerfs, ignore the main issue? One would think balance would involve all the mechanics and change them together, to reach the best outcome.

So, I'm guessing you want to remove gate flash too, and watch listing?

It's only an issue for you, and if you have that much of a problem with local move to WH space, which, by the way, the denizens of often go to extreme lengths to see just who is in their space. Remove local and the focus changes to watching gates and watch lists and whats funny about all of this, is that of the two, local is never going to be nerfed in k-space Big smile no matter how much you whine about it while afk cloaking stands a good chance of being changed.

Add a module that emits decloaking pulses in a 4-10 AU radius. Similar mechanics to ecm. The module may consume fuel, affect mobility, be unable to fit in most ships or other possibilities. Active modules may appear in overview.

Active cloakers will notice fast enough to move to another safepoint, unless being a noob or a very big/slow ship (maybe only works on covops ships, advice needed on this). Afk cloakers will get decloaked, and probed, and killed, and burned, and whatever you want.
