Hopeless... froze in the first pocket of the first mission I tried to run...

I dunno what to say man...just ran an entire 7 mission arc (and limped home from the seventh...) with only a few graphical artefacts.
No crashes at all today.

Maybe it's because I'm using a mac mini? But then, what about all those crashes before?

Not exactly.

Before this latest patch I had days in which I played for 4 hours without issues, blowing things all the time, not just station spinning. However, there were moments in which I couldn't play for more than 5 minutes without a freeze.

That was with same patch, same OS patch, same everything.

If you find anything special please post. I haven't, but I'm still hoping to find it.

Just wanted to report, still getting the exact same crashes we all have since Incarna came out. Game freezes, music starts skipping, can move mouse and other programs work fine, forced to force quit EVE. Some days no crashes at all, some days 3 or 4. Typically more "no crashes" days than "lots of crashes" days.

I have not played yet since the patch this morning; dunno if there was any fix in that or not.

Please can any of you describe the circumstances when the client crashes? Your assistance will mean that i am able to give the most detail to our programmers to fix this.

Are you undocking or docking?
Do you have CQ enabled or ship spinning?
Is there heavy graphical load?
What are your graphics settings?
Are you all using ATi Macs?
What is your OSX version?

I apologize for the difficulties this issue causes and I really do want to get this resolved.

Well, I just got another freeze.
Something I might be able to add, I am running two clients on the same machine and thus can see my other character. Even though the client is frozen the ship is still in space, so it is not frozen to the point of disconnecting. Other client is fine.

Some additional information: According to top I only have about 10MB of memory free, so it is probably swapping like hell. There is no crash/dump file present.

Are you undocking or docking?

Nope, sitting next to a sun.

Do you have CQ enabled or ship spinning?

Neither is enabled, I do not load station environment.

Is there heavy graphical load?

Nope, just sitting in space.

What are your graphics settings?

All set to lowest possible

Are you all using ATi Macs?

RadeonX1600

What is your OSX version?

10.6.8

Suffering from same client freeze issue. Here's the additional info you wanted:

Are you undocking or docking?
docked, but neither undocking or docking. All of my client freezes have been like that.

Do you have CQ enabled or ship spinning?
Ship spinning but not CQ

Is there heavy graphical load?
nope

What are your graphics settings?
medium to high

Are you all using ATi Macs?
NO, GeForce GT 330M

What is your OSX version?
10.6.8

So the latest string of patches haven't fixed a thing. I don't know how many days it has been, but this is utterly ridiculous.

Having these same issues. In the past hour I have had 3 crashes all with the same symptom of client just completely freezing. The whole game is completely unplayable at the current state.

These client freezes seems to be completely random as well. One freeze when writing mail (docked, spinning ship), one when not even touching the client (docked) and one in space.

So I started seeing crashes when I had uTorrent running in the background.
This got me thinking: what would change without announcement, and get...confused...by a program sharing bandwidth?

The anti-cheating program. You see, warcrack had this problem a long time ago, where their super creepy "warden" program (which is also a data-miner if you didn't know...it reads everything on your desktop, anything running and sends it back to actiblizz;
who, due to the TOS players sign, own all that data. That book you're typing up while playing? they own it now.) kept halting warcrack when certain programs were running, or even getting confused and clogging the system like a massive turd.

Thoughts?

I mentioned something similar earlier on in this thread. The only time I get a freeze is when im running Vuze (Vuse) in the background. I don't even need to be downloading anything. All it has to do is be open. But while it's closed, I can run eve freeze and crash free.

There is a link here for sure. I'm sure someone other than a Dev will figure it out for us. Then they will pop up and announce that "they" have found a fix!

I have tried disabling utorrent, and it still froze. So it's not that. It did seem to "improve" things, but that might have been pure luck, as these freezes are totally random.

Is this recognized as a real issue by CCP? Or is it believed to be related only to a few select computer environments?

Still crashing for me on the main mac client which sucks. It crashes without fail now whenever I open the mail though. =/

Are you undocking or docking?
I'm docked, ship spinning

Do you have CQ enabled or ship spinning?
Ship Spinning

Is there heavy graphical load?
Nope, just a legion sitting over the pad.

What are your graphics settings?
All high

Are you all using ATi Macs?
Yup, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB

What is your OSX version?
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)

I've also got 16Gb of RAM, so I know I'm not swapping like above (also, iStat menus tells me I'm not :P)

Got a freeze and much later a strange crash where the game disappeared but the icon stubbornly refused to leave the dock, with the background frame displayed (you know, the one that gets hidden when eve goes full screen).
Had to force quit it, and it took like 30 seconds for the little wheel to stop spinning.

I don't run anything in the background, and I think this helps. But I still hold to my new hypothesis, that ccp's anti-cheating program is responding to changes in your bandwidth system somehow.
After all, the problem is not uniformly applied to the demographic and seems to start and stop even in severe sufferers.

Which means it has something to do with something ubiquitous to all of us, but whatever it is has -some- variance, right?

On a year old Macbook Pro

I have been getting frequent crashes immediately after jumping through gates since Sunday. Today I had no issues until at approximately 100EVE (I believe) at which time I crashed jumping from C-4 to 3F (in branch, can't remember entire system names). Now when I try to log back in the first screen launches (half screen centred) of Crucible, and then the screen goes fullscreen black. After I wait a long while (tried 10 minutes one time) I have to Alt+Command+esc (to minimize) and the screen Eve screen goes white, at which time I have to force quit.

Hope this can be fixed soon, and I hope this helps.

This patch didn't fix it either. Maybe the next one ... that is if they are working on it at all.

Wow, this patch killed my client!!! I logged on before dt, no problem. Logged off, applied new patch after dt. Black screen followed.

I have found a temp fix tho. If i make a clone of my client, the clone works.

Hope this help someone. Cause CCP are doing **** all.

Interesting, since patch markets and contracts no longer work in my main client however, a clone made with clonemaker has no such issues. It just crashes randomly.

I said this in the other thread too but, I've become increasingly convinced that each new update just shuffles around the problems for Mac users. Every update it seems is like some crappy game show prize wheel of Mac problems. Crash to desktop today… freeze issue after the patch. Freeze issue before, crash at gates next patch. During each patch or update your client spins the "Wheel Of Mac Issues" and develops a whole new set of problems in exchange for your old ones. Problems that CCP will either ignore, say they can't replicate then ignore, or take months to admit there may be a problem then disappear and seemingly do nothing about it for another few months, all until the next update when your client steps up and spins the wheel again and the whole thing starts over.
