Now seriously... how can a 2 year even pull the trigger of a firearm? I thought these things where quite tough to avoid accidental pulls... and that they have a safety lock... and... well, I thought that firearms where not something a 2 year could operate accidentally!Shocked

Darwinism in action, though I do feel horrible for the child; that's going to be traumatizing later in life.

pistols are frighteningly easy and intuitive to use, dangerously so.

And if you have a gun with a conceal and carry permit, it should be on you and in your control, not tossed into a purse.

i fully agree with that too. at least not little ones, or if you HAVE to have a gun you put it where little hands can;t easily grab.

in the purse is not a secured firearm. In the purse cocked with a round in the chamber and no safety on is just idiotic negligence.
I have no issue with concealed carry by educated and responsible individuals. This person was not one of those.
I have many aquaintances who will not own a firearm due to having small children, I can respect this.
I don't have any loinspawn, so I should be safe until the cats figure out how to load and operate the .357.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

They can rip through the safety caps on medication bottles and break into child proof containers.

The real question here is why was a loaded gun with the safety off sitting in a purse where the damn child is playingStraight

Well, apparently it's some kind of freak accident... the victim was an expert owner and the gun was in a concealed carry purse (a Xmas gift from her husband) but somehow the toddler was left unattended, managed to unzip the concealed carry pocket and probably pushed (not pulled) the trigger while the gun still was in its holder.

Freak, freak way to die. That shot could had hit anywhere harmless... Ugh

So I bet the NRA will argue that this is a strong point for making it even easier to obtain guns- like, had the mother had a second gun, she could have disposed of her child before it pulled the trigger...

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

I just hope the boy can overcome this. It will be a long, hard road no matter what road he chooses to take.
[edit]...and not to mention the husband, come to think of it; he's also got bumpy ride ahead

Where I come from I would feel safer knowing Law Abidding Citizens COULD carry guns, SINCE only crooks carry guns very illegally in the open Big smile and private gun ownership is banned, specially when crooks can easily access fragmentary grenades, small caliber weapons of all sorts they fire with impunity to crowds , cuban armed forces shoot freely on venezuelan citizens , National Guards have to face fully armed inmates IN prison , bored inmates of prisons, already having guns FOR FUN make "duels" with bladed weapons to "first blood" or true death medieval style, and the usual run of the mill pro-government "non affiliated to it" forces repressing people because they can, AS USUAL ...

Yeah ... I would feel much safer KNOWING at least our side could be fully armed TOO.

But that´s just me, on this side of the pond. Cool

You know what, I would love to debate on forums and other venues the pros and cons of gun ownership too like you all do ... yep, that would be hella´fun ... might almost make me feel part of something grand, debating the constitution of my country´s merits an many other things, but alas I dream as usual yep.

Back to space pew pew, at least i can buy guns in Jita NP ...."legally".

Tragic, without doubt.

I just wonder if the child was tasered and put into tiny handcuffs by the police afterwards.
Wouldn´t be the first time, even....
