Living in a Shattered system?!

I've done this with an Orca in trash C3 (bad statics) and C4s last year. It's nice but it really requires dual boxing it. Also an Orca is easily scanned down so you need to limit the time it is uncloaked, and dscan for probes. I finally started bring a small tower as it made things safer for refitting and what not, because if you have a free roaming Orca sooner or later someone will start camping you. I deployed the tower when I come into a system, log out in a safe, never had more than a few hours of fuel, and when I needed the Orca I pulled some fuel out of a container in a safe spot, fueled the tower, and logged and warped the Orca in. Passers by just small yet another abandon worthless tower.

All and all I recommend just bringing some secure containers with ammo or an alt with and Indy plus you'll want repair paste, and drones. Loot in wspace is very small so you don't need too much. It's only if you start mining rocks or gas that you need a lot of space. While it's nice to have an alt with a depot and a pair of hull and armor repair modules you could use lasers and armor tanking to reduce the need to have a hauler alt. Just be sure to put your loot in a container in an oddball safe while running sites.

@Niskin:
I can actually fit large extenders T2, I must've overlooked them and just went with mediums. I'll plug your fit into EFT now that i'm the hotel and can sit down abit and see what I get for tank.

@Marsan:
Yea I thought about doing an orca for the benefit of being able to swap ships, and honestly, the logistics involved in going out of the WH just to grab say a venture is quite annoying. I also dual box, have my drake ( main ) either cloak up, or spam d-scan while my alt ( cloak hauler ) watches the HS hole. Having 3 monitors is a really good reason to dual box :)

So is 4-500 omni tank something that shouldn't be required to run C2 sleepers? Here's what I do, I warp in, target, and align safe in the drake. Then commence to blow up anything within range. Should I be speed tanking instead? Range? etc... I'm willing to take any/all advice at this point haha, aside from "Run a HAM Tengu" .... or "Buy this 1 bil isk ship" lol, everyone has to start somewhere.

Pretty sure that around 300 should be enough depending on how fast you kill stuff. 500-600 is enough to handle most C3 sites and they are way harder than C2.

If you are on a budget but wanted a better ship you could also try a Cerb or Nighthawk. Both should be able to passive tank a C2 with no issues and cost a lot less than a T3 but are more effective than a Drake. (I have used a 100mn HAM Nighthawk in C3s for Lol and it works for most sites)

Edit.

As far as the Nomadic life style goes, sticking to 1 system might not work for long. When you start you will have loads of sites but after a couple of days you will have run most of them and then its down to the respawn rate which is often only 3-4 sites per day.

If you stick to a single system you aren't a nomad by my definition.

With my setup, the version with the SPR II, you should be fine in any C2 combat anomaly. The data/relic sites are another story, I would expect to have to warp out once or twice to regen shield on those. There was one C2 anomaly where I found it beneficial to warp out and regen shields. It wasn't definite that they would break my tank, but I was getting low and I wanted more buffer in case of surprise PvP.

The amount of money I make in null doing data/relic would offset any, if not all, losses I will incur in this system,

Proteus is my only option atm, and with the price tag it carries, I'd rather not risk that.

the cost isn't with me at the moment.

I'm getting mixed messages here Ugh

@Iyokus:
Let me clarify, I can cover approximately a 2-400, maybe 500 mil loss with a week or so in null doing data/relics in my inty. Which would net me 2-4, maybe 5, drakes! Now, I'm pretty sure prot's cost abit more :)

As for the tank, I'm in the process of scanning this hole for an exit to go re-fit this drake. The tank in the first thread nets me about 570 ehp/s according to EFT, which is GREAT compared to my measly 140 I was running with. I will definitely start out with that and tone it down over time, and the more comfortable I become flying the damn thing. I'm still 'technically' new to shield tanked ships, even though I have the skills, I still fly armor. I just like the ability to fire and forget :)

I'm REALLY contemplating bringing my alt's orca instead of the prowler I'm in now. I REALLY like the idea of being able to just change ships in space. Might even fit it with some shield harmonizing modules or somethin' but the first thing on my list now that I'm back in the state is to refit this damn drake and do something with it.

About re-spawn times; I wasn't really aware of that fact, you have a good point, but I also always have a c2 or null exit at some point, so I can go rat elsewhere should this system become drained.

Nomadic or not, thats what the OP was talking about. Life without a POS.

As far as a proper nomadic life goes, It would be trickier sticking only to Shattered Systems than just going where the grass was greener. You are not always going to get a Connection to a Shattered System of the correct class so you are just cutting yourself (not you personally) out of most systems.
