Mobile tractor unit option

Hi there, not sure how hard it would be to add but could we get an option for the mobile tractor units to target full wrecks 1st? This would help ratters etc to get the wrecks with the items in rather than waiting for the dozen empty wrecks to get pulled 1st.

Do it manually if you want to cherry pick, marauders and noctis get a bonus.

if you don't want it to go after empty wrecks you could always just blow them up

MTU targets nearest wreck outside X range, I think it's the range at which it will loot. MTU does not care if wreck is full or not, nor should it. If you want to pick and choose which wrecks get pulled in, get a ship intended for that purpose. MTU is to aid a noctis pilot in salvaging more efficiently, not do the job for him.

MTU works great as is. Learn to use it to its fullest capability, and you'll see there is absolutely nothing that needs changed on it.

Edit: This includes the oft requested deploy for corp option. I can put my noctis alt into a t1 frig with inertia stabs, warp it into site, deploy MTU, and be out before the rats even know it's there.

MTU is deliberately dumb. Adds value to doing it yourself.

If I would make the MTU better I would want it to target things at its max range before it gets things nearly next to it. I do not know if it should distinguish between full and empty wrecks but I would rather it focus its time on things outside my normal ships range rather then what is only a couple thousand meters away.

I use the MTU to tractor jet cans within range of my freighter when it arrives to clean things up. I often have to wait a rather long time while it tractors in things already in range of the freighter before it begins working on things that are well further away.

T3s also get a useful bonus with the scanny front-end... I know theres a fit out there (with a bunch of discussion no less) on battleclinic for a covopscloaky salvaging legion...

As before. Do it yourself if you want it to work intelligently.

Many players have been asking why the MTUs pull the closest wreck, as this behavior essentially prevents effectively using two complementary MTUs side by side. I can see why this would frustrate some players who are trying to maximize the effectiveness of their MTU setup.
We intend the MTUs to be a valuable option for many types of players, but we wanted to make sure that they do not completely overshadow other tractor beam platforms, most notably the Noctis. This is why they are limited to one beam at a time and why their tractor velocity is set lower than that of a Noctis. However if we made it easy to use multiple MTUs in parallel their effectiveness would scale far too well when used in groups, removing any role for other tractor beam solutions. This is why we have no plans to adjust the collection algorithm of the MTUs.
