Out of Pod Experience

So I finally found some recording software that, unlike fraps, doesn't cause framerate loss and doesn't create 4G files from 30 seconds of footage. In fact, I managed to record a 4-5 hour Elite session yesterday on one file with no issues. Here are the results. I did actually go out looking for other players but I only found one, who was in the process of docking at the time. It's rather sparse where I've gone in the game, near Sol.

And just to pre-empt the question, "so why not EVE footage?" Well, I've got a lot of that too, and it's going on a new recruiting video for Layman's Terms and Don't Tell Me The Odds, which is still in production. This was a lot easier to get for the moment so this is what I got, and I know there are plenty of Elite fans around here.

The video is long-ish, ~20 minutes, but it's been cut from about 4-5 hours of recorded material, which then took about 7 hours to cut and process into what you see here Video may be geoblocked in Germany so if you live there, try a proxy.

Anyway, thought I'd share it since I made it, see if anyone actually enjoys it. If not, no big deal, I made this because if I didn't it would have been a waste of 4-5 hours of test recording footage. In case you're interested, the software I used for recording is called Action!.

Anyway, loving this game so much right now and I'd love to see what others are getting up to. Feel free to post your own vids.

Well, it has a 30-day full-feature free trial for you to try it out on your hardware before you buy. Took me less than 5 minutes of the free trial to decide it was totally worth it.

I've been playing the kinds of games since the original Elite, including the X-wing and Wing Commander series. Trust me, keyboard+mouse might "suit you fine" but you haven't really experienced it without a joystick. You don't need anything fancy, I seriously only use a Logitech Attack3.

I actualy plugged in my thrustmaster t16000 yesterday and now having such a blast!

Its alot more responsive, if only there would be hotas system for lefties...

I found a system in my travels last night called Utu. It reminded me of the only ship in EVE that I want to get before I die.... but that black hole was kinda underwhelming. Hopefully they'll fix it, give it a cool accretion disk and the like.

Yeah, all it is right now is some gravitational lensing. Pretty underwhelming if you ask me. I'd love to see a black hole feeding on something like a star complete with the accretion disk like you said.

Remiel: I'd suggest having in-game sounds louder for more atmosphere. Feels a little detached without the noise of the guns, thrusters, etc. That could just be me though.

Still have music (if you want). There were some good selections in your videos, just up the in-game sound effects.
Like I said, that would be my preference anyway
