Seeing the universe ship?

I've been in high-sec most of my EVE career. My only PvP experience is being tricking by a can flipper into being blasted to bits.

I'd like to be able to get out and see some of the sights with as little hassle as possible. What would be the best kind of ship/fitting for getting around and avoiding ganks? I have the ability to fly some stealth ships, but I've never actually used them so I don't know how well that will work.

Any covert ops frigate will allow hassle free exploration of lowsec, while nulsec and wormholes have bubbles that will "occasionally" cause death of cloaked frigates. I'v never been killed just moving around cloaked in a covert ops frigate in any area of space so it's fairly safe all round. Really assuming all you want to do is look, get the smallest fastest cloaked ship you can find and you shouldn't have too much hassle. Make it cheap the first few times anyway Pirate

So fitting probes for finding worm holes and sites. Anything else I should make sure to fit?

Or just pick any interceptor.

Use your speed to prevent being attacked and love the bubble-interdiction bonus and laugh at any drag bubble you encounter.

I made it all the way to the Eve Gate, but ran into gate camps trying to go see the The Bloodbath of B-R5RB Memorial. I need to learn how to get past those.

Do like J'poll said and grab you an interceptor and fit it so it has a less than 2 second align time. You should be pretty safe. Well, relatively safe...

Haven't done it myself, but I'm sure you could fit up an interceptor as J'Poll said, just add a cloak, probe launcher with nano/ inertia stabilizers in the lows for fast aligns and a MWD. Could probably fit some of those scanning upgrades too. Could be a useful tourism boat.

Now that i think about it, I think I'll make one myself; once I can fly an inty anyway. Could make a good scouting ship too. Give it a shot and let me know how it works!

Grrr.

I'll give that a shot since I didn't have much luck with the cloaker ship.

Do corps like EVE Uni teach about breaking through gate camps and what not? It's been so long since I played I feel like I'm starting all over.

Now, you made me sad..I love my crows, then again....I"m usually looking for trouble when flying those, not trying to evade trouble.

You mean you saw the Eve Gate from the system called New Eden. To actually reach the gate you would have to travel 3ly from the star of this system https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_Gate and i know that the Goner Temple, who are on their way to reach it only made about 22AU from the New Eden Stargate. One of my alts takes part of this journey.

Null sec tourism is a skillset in and of it's self. There are a lot of videos on youtube giving tips and advice on how to do this. Some of them are very good.

Don't be afraid to loose a few ships learning how to get this accomplished. The skills that you will learn doing this are very valuable for other things as well.

Definitely an interceptor fitted for fast alignment. Nothing else comes close in null. Don't fit a buffer tank, it will make you *less* safe - smartbomb camps will still kill you, but the slower align (armor) or being quicker to target (shields) will increase your danger.

Cov-Ops is the best option in lowsec.

A cloak and a probe launcher are needed for WH tourism.

Any T3.
It can be nullified, while covops cloaked, while probe fit. The only real issue is if someone manages to decloak you before you warp out, but I haven't ever seen a cloaky caught on the gate camps I've done.

Yeah, made it to that system and saw the big light. It will be interesting to see if someone ever actually makes it. Could they drop a bookmark so others can just wasp to it?

Yeah. Cause a new player can fly a T3 and afford one.

Please, if you answer in NCQA, make it have any sense for a new player.

I do a fair bit of traveling and bookmarking in places where the locals aren't always pleased to see me. You'll never find a ship that is 100% guaranteed to dodge gate camps in null, but this is the fit I've found most successful (and it's fairly cheap for when you do finally get caught):

ARES
Cloak
MWD
4 x Warp Core Stabiliser

The stabs and the interceptor bubble immunity will get you past most gate camps. The MWD will let you burn off gate to make tacticals. The cloak will let you hide up and take a break.

Travel fit Interceptor as mentioned.
Bring shield tank modules and a mobile depot along with you though. If you do encounter smartbombers you might be able to squeak through the camp with a buffer fit. If it's battleships assume 2,500 damage per ship, which means you can get past 4 of them if fit right.
