Just tested the ‘Download on Demand’ launcher on Duality and it seemed to work just fine for the limited test I did.

Some rough timings for a UK FTTC 75meg down 16Meg up line.

Initial installer download, seconds (4613 KB)
The installer took about 10 min to download and install the launcher but that takes into consideration reading the instructions, setting the desktop icon etc.
Game launched to [Play] button in less that 5 Min.

Entering the game took slightly longer than normal (about 25 seconds in total)
All assets where loaded, no glitches I could see.

Changing ships was as instantaneous as on TQ
Undocking fine

Flew to gate, had the normal ‘Offline’ message while the next system loaded, wait time seemed the same as SiSi.
All assets loaded as normal in the next system
Docked in station as normal

Total download in folder 315 MB.

Sounds promising. Not sure if its worth the longer loading times.

Will there be an option to retain the full client?

Looks like it from the Dev Blog thread and a full download if you wish.

Not happy about one thing, found a shared folder with .99 Gb (just less than 1 Gb) of data in my \Appdata folder (normally hidden) on my C: drive. This is an SSD and I don't like programs messing with it unless I know about it.

Bad CCP bad.

Just ran it myself, seems promising indeed. I was wondering though, the download on demand part, is that limited to duality or could i enter the sisi server info and it handle things the same way? Probably something for a dev answer.
