First things first, the new reskins/shaders on ships are great, aswell as some of the skyboxes.

Now, with that out of the way, the people with high end systems can run eve 10x over on high settings, in stations or in space. I would love to have the option of ultra high textures CCP!

I haven't looked at any of the ship files but I'm betting that the ships are using 512 size textures. When you zoom in close on the ship hulls, they get blurry/low rez looking.

One more thing, some of the nebula are really low quality and pixely/choppy looking, to the point where they look worse than the old sky boxes... please tell me that's getting fixed. Ugh

Not needed, just put the ultra high textures in the current client and make it an option for people that don't run 3-6 clients at once and like to have high rez eye candy.

atm, ship models are like 320p, while chars/avatars are like 1080p Straight

I would really like this for the nebulae first more than anything else. Right now, the nebulae look really bad. It's said that the uncompressed nebulae are 2GB in total, which is seriously nothing.

2 GB is seriously anything for people who can't afford the traffic.

I'm all for a high resolution pack though,
for those who want it and don't care about the extra download.

Make an optional texture pack for those with sufficient hardware and bandwidth to take advantage of them. Shouldn't be a lot of work to implement, and would make the game much more shiny and future-proof.

I would love to see a high resolution option.

But I don't think they have the manpower for it. It's a fairly labor intensive project.

But what they could do is take a page from Bethesda's playbook and release the code for enthusiast modders to work on.

They'd have to put some sort of security on it to stop hacking of the client, but look at what us guys with no life have done with the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. Some fantastic home made texture pack out there.

C'mon CCP. I'm chomping at the bit here. I love modding stuff and would love to have a crack at texturing some of the ships in high resolution.

See what you can do.

I know a lot of people that would love any High Res content they can get.
A lot of us here arent using wooden pc`s and can handle some more eye candy.

just like how they fixed the blocky painted starfields everyone kept complaining about, amirite?

the nebulae, or rather the stars behind the nebulae look like some badly compressed jpg. I even have the impression, that the stars are sharper if I put down my glasses...

Shoud make a pacth and call it ≡√≡ HD and it changes your client splash page to reflect the upgraded status.
