Low Sec Explo Ishtar/Vexor Navy Issue

So I am a pilot looking to get involved in soloing low sec combat sites and anomalies, and i heard the Ishtar was an excellent ship to do them. My corp has a POS and i have a scanner in some relatively quiet low sec space, so a cloak and scanning probes may not be necessary.

So i was just wondering a few things:

Would only the Ishtar work for these sites? or would it be replaceable by a vexor navy issue?

Would it be possible to give me a few fits for these ships?

Are low sec combat sites/anoms very profitable?

Thank you in advance

Low sec sites can be profitable. Keep in mind that drops, escalations and commander spawns are random.

The ishtar works great against most rats in either shield or armor fits. The VNI can do many sites, but it's tank will not be as good (especially against guristas and serpentis) and it has a much smaller drone bay which can hurt it's versatility and ability to replace lost drones without heading back to base.

What rats do you plan to be fighting?

I plan on fighting Sansha's nation rats

edit: for VNI. Against Sansha you will probably want to armor tank it. I don't have access to EFT right now but i would throw an EM and thermal hardener in the lows with a medium armor rep and 3xDDA. Throw some omnis in the mids with an afterburner. DLA or two in the highs and fill the remaining highs with whatever (salvager or maybe neut). Rigs should probably be cap, auxiliary nano pumps or resists.

Finally have EFT. Here is what I had in mind. Tanks 184 against sansha. 661 DPS (Curator II). 3 minutes cap all mods running. Its CPU tight though. This is with all skills at 5 and the CPU is 387/387.5 so there is not much else you can do with the high slots. Could probably switch some mods like the hardeners to Sansha/Shadow Serpentis (plus others) which have the same resistances as T2, but use less than half the CPU (16 vs 36). Replacing both hardeneres with the low fitting cost faction hardeners will give you 40.5 CPU to work with. Hardeners like the sansha and serpentis ones are fairly cheap, ~5 million.

I don't think that will have enough tank for a Sansha/BR 5 or 6/10.

VNI won't survive most DED 5/6 Sansha/Blood Raider sites. Tried it with around 80% EM and Thermal resists and struggled. Unless you got most relevant skills up to 5 I guess and a bit of bling. Speed tank may be viable, haven't tried it though.

Keep in mind many of theses sites have heavy neuting ships(applied around 25km) so your active tank will be gone very fast and missile batteries that hit up to 100km.

Happy hunting. o7

Do you think an ishtar would still have the same issues as the VNI?

I was ratting in Sansha's space and they use neutralisers a lot ! So be careful with this. I used Gila with shield extenders for this.

I've been runnibg an Ishtar in BR low sec for a few weeks and as long as you are careful with triggers and out range the rats it can comfortably run any of the sites with a passive tank. If you bring along a mobile depot and a few extra mods then you can change from a tanky fit to a ganky one mid fight.
