Easy fix, low sec stations are dirty and grimy, 0.0 stations CAN be dirty and grimy but get cleaner as the Sov levels rise.

highsec would be clean that is obvious

Dont know .. most pirate factions are former high military officers and/or leaders. I bet they would not tolerate mess.

inb4 "how often do you clean your room" question in the character creator.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I think OP is right, however CCP won't care. They got this shiny/dirty feature deployed now it'll be another 18 months to change the logic for it.

The hulls of ships should get dirty as well when entering low sec. It's a filthy place, using a stargate to enter will smear grime over your hull. There should be space pollution as well and useless junk flying around, even dead Tribbles floating by would do.

It's common knowledge that criminals are dirty scallywags. Lol

I think CCP has it right and I'll tell you why.

Civilisation sets us apart from the animal world in many ways. If we return out of civilisation for any of your favourite reasons, nuclear war, famine, zombie apocalypse, I believe the first thing we'll relinquish is a sense of cleanliness followed by any sense of privacy.

Frontiers are untidy places. However, if Sov rises, then it's no longer a frontier, cleanliness, privacy and self respect should come with that.

Google street view can help you with this concept. You can find places where Beverly Hills 90210 was filmed, you can also find places where The Wire was filmed. There appears to be a marked difference based on class and lawlessness.
Coincidence? I think not.

No, no and no. You build a shiny new outpost with great costs and it is already worn and dirty? You fight and secure an outpost from an enemy alliance and you do not clean it out? ABSOLUTELY MAKES NO SENSE, and greatly abjects the real players of this game who had grown out from the tutorial section (highsec) and play EvE at it's full depths.

Please rethink of it CCP: even the opposite would be much more logical - overcrowded hisec stations (Jita 4/4?) with the same amount of janitors can't cope with 100x mess.

Or fix the neatness in line with the offices rent at stations. More crowded -> dirtier.

Please support with yaaay, or resent the idea with a better suggestion. Thank you for sharing.

Or make the ones with better a hub and better rates and what not look better also. Low sec station residents would be by extension filthier. Some pirates might be tidy, but they wouldn't run around with a mop and bucket either.

edit: providing this is not a troll

edit: providing "filthy" is not merely having some quafe cans and a binbag in your quaters (thats actually cleaning up)

The system maintence bots in high sec have spare time to keep things clean...
The system maintence bots in null sec are too busy repairing bullet holes...
