After discussion with the community we have decided to make some adjustments to this plan to ensure that enough wormhole connections become visible to keep travel options open.

Although K162 signatures will not appear as soon as a player warps to them (as they do currently), they will have a random chance to appear every several minutes once the wormhole connection has less than 15 hours of natural lifetime remaining.

My question now is: Does every Wormhole spawn when it has less then 15 hours of lifetime left, or only WHs which have been warped to?

If I remember correctly -

Lifetime of a wormhole starts from initial warp to.
After less than 15 h lifetime there is a chance that it opens the K162 if nobody jumped through it.
Jumping of course, will open the K162 on the other side.

So if you see a K162 in your system, someone either jumped through it, or it has less than 15h lifetime.

To answer your question - and again this is all IIRC - Only wormholes that have been warped to will spawn the K162.

So, if you live in a C4 where your statics last 16 hours, you get 1 hour's grace after rolling yourself inside like a bear in winter. Then, at some random interval, some bads can find the K162 side of it no matter what.

Unless they changed it, the wormhole's "natural life" doesn't start until you've warped to the hole--so in that C4, after you've rolled yourself in, if you just don't warp to the new statics you're fine just like old times. If you do warp to the hole, but don't jump through, then yes you'll have an hour until it starts being able to spawn the K162 on the other side.

That is incorrect.

The timer only starts when you initiate warp to them, so you can keep your statics closed as long as you want.

"Even with the timer, K162s will never appear unless someone has initiated warp to the other side.
If you don't warp to a wormhole at all, the behavior of that wormhole will not be changing in Hyperion."

"*K162 wormholes and signatures are spawned in an invisible state when someone initiated warp to the other side of the connection.
*IF the K162 signature is in an invisible state and the wormhole connection has less than 15 hours of lifetime remaining, it will have a chance of becoming visible every few minutes,"

So your 16 hour static becomes visible one hour after initializing warp to it.

Yes, and yes.
The lifetime starts when you initiate warp to it, so if it has less then 15 hours someone must have warped to it.
