True Solo - Dead or just really really hard now?

Don't look for fair fights. Look for fights against the odds and then outplay your opponents. That is how you succeed as a solo pilot.

It's definitely not dead. I fly true solo all the time, mostly in frigs but occasionally in bigger ships such as Cruisers, BCs, CS and even BS depending on the situation. No links, no scout, just this character. Sometimes you get welped without killing anything which can be frustrating but sometimes you get the good fight. It's rarely a fair fight, but as Mizhir said it's usually a fight against the odds where you capitalize on the opponents making mistakes and outplaying them.

I have 1 account. I don't want to have multiple accounts so I can chest beat when I kill some dude that was no challenge for me with my alt army.

this is an MMO and if you want the benefit of using multiple accounts then go make friends.

Ok, I was just confirming that this thread is yet another "**** links" rant. I just want to add **** Garmurs since those are basically skirmish linked straight from the factory. and **** implants, and **** drugs, and **** any slight advantage that another pilot might give themselves to get an edge, and also **** people who are in FW and have negative sec, they should all be forced to pay for third-party freighter service or wait a week for a friend to maybe possibly fire up a cyno and get it done. Oh wait, how am I going to find single-account freighter friends if I spend all my time in low-sec and those indy types spend all their time in high-sec? This is such a headache

QFT.

its all about tactics.

for me its focusing on execution. if you execute perfectly you will win every time. and executing means breaking up that gang and taking them one at a time.

that is how you truly solo.

Then organize a group dedicated to true 1 v 1 dueling.

Roaming around looking for solo PvP is the worst way to go about it.

wtf? how many other ways are there to do it? it doesn't matter how big or small your fleet is there will always be fruitless roams, so unless you only undock for organized fights you're kinda limited to how you can find PvP

Solo doesn't die, the expectations of the pilots however should adapt as the meta of the game/warzones and ships changes your engagement profile.

In gal/cal warzone soloing has got alot harder past couple months. Most of the time wt gangs are fortified themselves in plexes and wont come chase you out in other plexes wich wont leave you many choises on tactics.

Sure you get still good fights with small ships before muricans starts to log in. Europe timezones has alot deeper culture with small gang fighting than murica.

As for not having links you are in great disadvantage as rough estimate 80% of the time enemy gang has links.

There are still many gallentes that fights for their on though. Saint lucifer for example is always great gal to fight at and not forgetting Jimbob Rock who has been my archenemy for years.

These all are my exprience in european timezone.

Solo pvp in black rise can be pretty risky. people like to blob you and most of the time have links and/or HG implants. Once you get to know who blob, you can start splitting their gangs to kill them.

It wont be a "honorable" brawl, but you can still pick fights while solo.

Its really hard, especially in black rise recently, essence has just always been essence. Placid is still fun.

I think it just requires a lot of skill to solo PvP now, but its not dead. What it lacks atm is actual solo PvPers, its quite hard to find fights now. Im talking about frig/dessie solo PvP here btw. Anything above is impossible unless you are armed to the teeth with safes and insta undocks, and even then you have to be really ******* good, careful and lucky to get decent fights.

All it really needs are people to think when they're station spinning, rather than wait for the next alliance roam/gatecamp, go fit up a T1 frig and pew pew.

I started in the amamake area plexing and had regular very good fights.
then CCP changed the rules with these pesky ships popping up every minute and this combined with PL gatecamping with smartbombs drove me to duels around trade hubs like Rens and HEK.
I get daily fights there, some very good, some very bad, but still fun.

I have yet to have a fruitless roam. I live in FW space and go on atleast 1 roam/day, unless my net is down. I have yet to not end up in a fight. Even when we run 2-3 Man Dessie gangs, we get fights.
Also, the "if you want xxx! make so e friends" argument is stupid. How many people, do you think, are willing and able to be on whenever you're on, available to light a cyno whenever you're on, available and willing to follow you around and sit in safes so you have links, etc etc? And to do all of that for free, every time you log in and want to do linked pvp.
The answer? My guess is 1. If you pay them large amount (more than plexing a 2nd account would cost). And their play times probably won't match up with yours, so then you're sol. That's why alts are used, because they can be on whenever you're on, they wouldn't complain or anything and they're not vey expensive.

I live in null and do true solo and cheating solo with a scout/boosts about 50/50. I still win plenty of fights when I don't use my scout/booster, but true solo is all about picking the right fights, catching players with their pants down, and knowing where you can get away with fighting for more than a few minutes.

Solo never ment 1v1, don't fool yourself. Solol mean you (1) vs them (many). A true solo player knows his limits and when to continue to fight and when to gtfo. I will admit that using an alt scout is the norm at the moment. I use one myself to either find targets and/or avoid gate camps. in that sense I don't think its as "cheating" as links would be. Links are clumbersome though and are more for a stationary player.

Solo is not, and by far, dead. I would even say that it is more prestigious now than its ever been considering the number of blobers out there.

To solo is to know thy self and make the ennemy go "wtf is happnin... Y WE DYING"

I'M not having fun until YOU'RE not having fun.
