What we know about Unidentified Structure and Circadian Seeker Sleepers:

The Structure.
  • It is an LCO so you can remote shield rep it, cap recharge, web, scram, jam, dampen... but to no effect, same as most other LCOs
  • Cant use data/relic, salvager, miners, ice/gas harvester, as those require a specific type of target an asteroid, a wreck, a can etc.
  • Ship scan, cargo scan, survey scan shows empty, just as other LCOs.
It seems completly passive. Dont think we can decloak it... yet

The Sleeper.
  • Its an 'enemy' NPC, so you can not use beneficial effects on it such as shield rep or recharge.
  • You can web and scram it, think other e-war works too.
  • Can not hack it.
  • Cargo and ship scanners show its empty with no modules, 725/725 GJ.
  • Being scanned with blue sleeper loot in cargo does nothing.
  • It doesnt mind rogue drones, incursion Sanshas or other hostile NPCs around.
  • It has 2 of what looks like heavy launchers, but I think those are its scanning beam devices. Never seen more than 2 beams shot from the same sleeper.
  • Beams are non-targeted, it does not lock target to scan it.
  • They dont shoot back.
  • Leave a wreck. Salvage only yields Metal Scrap.

The most interesting thing is when it scans you with its non-targeted beam and you cloak, it hangs up. Stops scanning, stops orbiting, shuts engines down. Stays that way for a minute or more. It may be a bug and I reported it. But maybe its when you have to do something interesting with it.

On Sisi they did like Custom Offices more at first, but now they seem to be scanning gates, stations, asteroids in belts, and all other objects evenly.

At Unidentified Stucture site, they used to like to scan the beacon alot. But now they sometimes barely land in the site and warp away to a random object.

They are also not aggressive nor aggressed by the old NPC Rats. I watched them hang out with two Guristas Cruisers and a Battleship for a good 3 minutes and no one even batted an eye. Until I decloaked on a 'roid and the Guristas locked me.

Anyone tried smartbombing one (EDIT: one of the structures) yet?

How about being scanned with sleeper loot or with a polarized weapon fit or in your hold?

I fired on one of the drone cruisers, took a long time to take out with base light missiles. I'd say somewhere between NPC battlecruiser and battleship in terms of HP. None of them aggroed, even the one I killed. Salvaged the wreck but got nothing special. Left due to lack of patience to take down the rest.

Are there always 4 of them or is that spawn number different? I found one that got away at a belt.

I saw 5, maybe 6. One of them shot some sort of light at the structure, but I dunno what it was doing. Didn't look like a weapon, more like a tractor beam but blue/white?

Anyone notice what looks like "lightning" flashes in a small segment of the nebula cloud once on station at the "Unidentified Object" beacon? Saw it in Wysalan.

Saw concentric rings of blue halo flashing surround my ship.

Two Circadian Seekers emerged from "lightning" flash area. Saw blue streaking effect from one seeker.

Could not get closer than 5,264m to the object.

Smartbombs (8x Large) and I think all other weapons too (I did try lazzors) do nothing, they hit, but deal 0 damage. Just as to most other LCOs. Not supposed to be damaged. Drones cant lock a cloaked object, dont attack.

In Rhea patch notes a line which now reads 'Sound environment for a cloaked structure' for the first few minutes went like 'New sound environment for Cloaked Jove Outpost'.

The Site
Tried orbiting the Structure at 150 km, 120 km, 90 km, 60km with a plan to decloak hidden objects. Like in the new exploration site, where in the bonus room you have to decloak cans by flying into them. Found nothing. Doesnt mean there is nothing there.

Why do I feel like there is a counter, somewhere in the EVE server, incrementing each time someone kills one of these Circadians, and when it hits a certain number, something very very bad is going to happen?

Perhaps the Sleepers heard how much fun Burn Jita was, but they don't know where Jita is, and they are constructing a map and moving combat assets, ready for the moment when they find Jita and can unleash themselves upon the world.

has anyone noticed when they scan the structure they tend to rock backwards and forwards?

Two things I want people to try:

-Get scanned while flying a confessor
-Find one in an ice belt, scan it, shoot it, etc.

Oh and see if they show up at safespots where you have things like depots or anchored cans.

OH and see if you see any at the sun.

Full Definition of CIRCADIAN

: being, having, characterized by, or occurring in approximately 24-hour periods or cycles (as of biological activity or function)

Should we be looking at the name for a clue? I don't think the name was drawn at random by the CCP computers.

I've the creeping suspicion it has something to do with this chronicle.

EDIT: Then again, there's also this which gives me the impression we're about to go through one hell of a roller coaster ride through time. Literally speaking, by the way.

IMO, there's two high-level explanations:

A) The structures were always there and are just now starting to become visible due to the Seyllin Incident wreaking all kind of havoc.
B) The structures are there -BECAUSE- of the Seyllin Incident wreaking all kind of havoc.

Either way, I don't see how any of this is going to end well. Seems to me like the mass reaping and genocide of Sleepers might be catching up to us, in this timeline or the next. Speculation... Of course.

This sorta reminds me of a story I read once. Alien Stones, by Gene Wolfe. We are so busy finding different ways to destroy these things to get some kind of result that we place our curiosity and initial impressions are of hostility. What if there were some way to furnish them with something they need to repair, as it seems atm, their broken device that will not cloak properly anymore, and which could have always been there the whole time.
