Honestly I will never understand why people follow ccp devs around like rockstars or sports team members. People leave and join companies all the time. If the company is run well its not a huge loss, as ideas and such are kept within a team. Why we track every movement I have no idea.

We care because he was a key figure in nullsec rebalancing starting with the jump changes and being continued after Rhea.

He was part of the team which brought in Dominion sov. Love him or hate him, the current and past dynamics of nullsec and the years of stagnation and super coalitions are partly his fault.

Which is to say it might still slide into the Pacific one day WHEN the right magnitude of earthquake comes along -- and it will.

NOT REALLY seeing how that's an improvement over an island in the middle of the North Atlantic that is essentially floating on a bubble of magma, but "OK".

Folks can blame him for whatever they want -- I hope the next generation of devs have some brass balls amongst themselves, too.

Q: Should we be worried?
A: Nope. (...) Worry a lot if Fozzie, Masterplan, Rise, Veritas, Bettik, Ytterbium, Scarpia, Arrow, or even Greyscale leaves. Worry a little if Punkturis, karkur, SoniClover, Affinity, Goliath, or Xhagen leaves.

(Another) winter is coming. And CCP should be moving their foreign talent to better liveable places than Iceland. Ugh

And we have been over this, once they awox riot they will have an office in Dublin

Dublin is a place where Barcelona people goes when they don't have anywhere else left to go. It's like "shall I move to Kamchatka, Reykjavik or Dublin?". If you notice, that means that even Brussels looks like a better plan than Dublin. Shocked

Specially since Dublin is bloody full of Spaniards; there's something wrong when you go hit the redhead of your life and she's Galician!! Lol

You will be missed.

Hope that one day your idea of cities in space, the POS revamp that had them moving around and being able to connect, will in one way or the other see the light of day.

So you are saying he was responsible for some of the biggest widest publicised fights of the MMO world, that got out to the mainstream Media even?
Yes, Dominion Sov didn't work out quite how they anticipated. GSF are kinda very good at breaking game systems with metagame play after all. But blaming him for the stagnation caused by players always playing the metagame and not simply shooting stuff inside the game.... Without giving him credit for all the good fights and great times that came with it. Not cool.

Personally I could never forgive him for the anomaly nerf, and the destruction of 100's of man hours of work and my entire corp that went with it.

Grudgingly, I respect that he usually popped up with the most controversial changes and pushed them through no matter what.

Bitter much? Perhaps.

Love it or hate him, this is the best thing CCP ever has said about POSes:

CCP Greyscale wrote:

- starbases should primarily be a platform for doing other things from. they should give you a place to project yourself from.
- When people want to use these, they should be able to, without much restriction or hindrance.
- A strong sense of home. We want it to be super customizable for your needs -home is where you log off, and we want you to be logging off at these and basing from them.
- structures should be exciting, especially when it comes to combat and we should provide more tactical options for people to mess with them.
- Inspirational -They need to look ******* awesome, and people need to want them and want to be around them and have them and use them and like them and want them and stuff.
- They need to be structured, future proof and unifying under one system. We need a new robust system that uses one framework for all assets in space.
- we want to create more interesting stuff in systems and allow people to fight in different places and put content all over the universe. We want to move pos off moons, create a structured scalable system and allow people to populate space with awesome stuff.
- the system needs to be as simple as possible and intuitive so that people can use it without having to have an double masters and a doctorate in astrophysics and spaceship construction.

No, his team was. He might of been head, or had the basic idea but with out without him the work should continue as scheduled in the way it was chosen. This is how things work. A new team head might tweek or change the vision, but usually once a project is approved a certin way the work keeps going no matter who is there.

Now if CCP Seagull left then yea things would prolly change, but the point of a working group is to have everyone who is going to touch stuff lay out exactly what they are planning. And you still follow the roadmap. So as I said, rockstar status.

And if that person is one of the people working on extending the roadmap? Are you assuming that's complete and will never require changes?

Are you an accountant? Seriously you sound like the sort of person that thinks outsourcing an experienced developer's role is a good idea as you can get three inexperienced people for the same price. Reality says no.

no, it just took away some of the inherent advantages of being a grief-monkey. Aggressors in EVE still have it far, far too easy. It makes the game a joke. Greyscale seemed to be one of the few who understood fairness.

CCP Rise needs to go for destroying a playstyle on the Rattlesnake unnecessarily. His 'rebalancing' has amounted to little more than tinkering.

Is it possible to fix and recover from the harm he has caused, or is EVE continuing on the long slide to irrelevancy no matter what?
