Cheers for the jump changes, I hope you find a new nice place to work at o7

Quote:
Ned "CCP Manifest" Coker was able to validate claims of Greyscale's departure in an email to TMC: "We can confirm Matt is no longer with the company." The nature of Woodward's departure from CCP is unknown at this time.

i liked greyscale and his willingness to spend his time talking on the forum

even if he was a bit of a dope sometimes (cruise missiles)

the mittani article's comments features silly people being angry about their jumpdrives Roll

And we care why?

Honestly I will never understand why people follow ccp devs around like rockstars or sports team members. People leave and join companies all the time. If the company is run well its not a huge loss, as ideas and such are kept within a team. Why we track every movement I have no idea.

He certainly marched to the beat of his own drum. Hated one month and loved the next.

One thing no one can deny though, he had a passion for the game and will be missed.

He made some good changes, while I agree they are not rockstars, Devs with a good vision is a good thing.

meh, that has to do with him being there for 7 years. Other people will come and thre are many others who have been there longer.

I just wonder why we as players care this much. Sure we have devs we like, I personally liked TomB, Ovur, and the good Dr. But when they left I just shrugged it off. The company moves on. Though I think TomB is still at ccp but meh.

Point is, I find these post funny. Esp when comments like "omg riot/ea/whatever is taking over ccp!" No, its a natural business cycle. We just have no idea how many devs are replaced and by who.. but honestly as long as eve is up and we can play it I have to ask.. we care why?

Edit: though its prolly CCP's relationship with us that we care. I don't know if WoW players post threads everytime a WoW dev leaves. But who knows, maybe i'm wrong

I can't say that I'm going to miss the person who completely screwed up Crimewatch. Greyscale was in large part responsible for many decisions that, how should I say this, "simplified" the game."

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

people do seem to assign credit for specific changes to whatever dev is being the public face of the team responsible

i have no idea which people were responsible for certificates, or whose project it was, but i remember greyscale is given credit and he happened to write the devblog

i like certificates, i used the system a lot when starting out. helped me with early skill planning and with identifying important skills

We care because he was a key figure in nullsec rebalancing starting with the jump changes and being continued after Rhea.

No, his team was. He might of been head, or had the basic idea but with out without him the work should continue as scheduled in the way it was chosen. This is how things work. A new team head might tweek or change the vision, but usually once a project is approved a certin way the work keeps going no matter who is there.

Now if CCP Seagull left then yea things would prolly change, but the point of a working group is to have everyone who is going to touch stuff lay out exactly what they are planning. And you still follow the roadmap. So as I said, rockstar status.

vOv i don't know. but i don't believe it's a case of person x gets to make changes y without meetings, discussion and input (e: and most importantly, approval) with and from lots of other people involved in the design process
